Chapter 282

Colin’s heart was beating like a drum.

Quentin Parker was considered a top-notch expert in the traditional medicine world. Moreover, he had a very good character and was Colin’s idol.

The opportunity to meet his idol was right in front of him, making him doubt if he was dreaming.

It was not until he pinched his thigh and felt the pain that he was sure that he was not dreaming.

It was real.

“Melody, you’re not lying to me, right? Can I really go and see him?” Colin could not help but confirm again, afraid that Melody was joking with him.

Melody smiled and said, “I’m not lying to you. However, the journey is long, and it’s best to take a cruise to our village. You might get very tired.”

“What’s a bit of fatigue? Being able to meet Mr. Parker is worth any exhaustion!” Colin paused and asked, “How do I find him? What should I tell him?”

Melody took off the only keepsake her mother left her from around her neck and carefully placed it in Colin’s hand, “I’ll send you the address of our village. When you get there, find the William butcher at the west end of the village. He will take you to see Mr. Parker when he sees this necklace.”

“Alright.” Colin kept the necklace as if it was a treasure.

Melody lowered his voice and whispered into Colin’s ear.

Colin’s expression changed drastically. He immediately said, “I’ll leave immediately.”

The round trip would take at least three days, and Colin needed to be back in time to accompany Beverly with her surgery, leaving no time to waste.

“Wait,” Melody reminded, “It’s already very late. I’ll book the earliest cruise for you. It should take about seven or eight hours to get there. On the way, don’t mention Mr. Parker’s name to anyone.”

“Don’t worry, I know what to do. I’ll pack my things now and inform my wife so she doesn’t worry.” Colin added.

“Alright. If Beverly doesn’t agree, I’ll go there myself in a few days,” said Melody.

“Don’t worry, Beverly is reasonable and understands me well,” Colin said.

At this point, Colin knew the seriousness of the matter. He did not say anything else and walked out of the acupuncture room to pack his luggage.

Melody walked out of Herbathrive.

Ken and James were talking about something. When she approached, James immediately fell silent.

It seemed like they were discussing matters she shouldn’t hear.

Melody knew better than to ask, “James, how are you feeling now?”

“I’m much better now. I don’t feel dizzy anymore.” James answered.

Melody nodded and said, “That’s good,” Melody said, “You should be thankful the needle wasn’t poisoned, it just made you weak and unconscious. Otherwise, it would have been hard to cure you quickly with Jennie’s skills.”

Ken sensed something was off and asked,, “Who is Jennie?”

“She was once a very skilled traditional medicine practitioner, but she had taken the wrong path,” said Melody.

Not wanting to divulge too much involving Mr. Parker, Melody quickly changed the topic and said “It’s almost one in the morning. I have to go back.”

“Okay, I’ll drive you,” Ken added.

Melody didn’t refuse since it was hard to get a taxi at that hour, so she got into the passenger seat. She knew Ken preferred she not sit in the back, as it made him feel like a driver.

She knew Ken preferred she not sit in the back, as it made him feel like a driver.

Just as Melody expected James to get in the car, the car started moving.

Melody couldn’t help but ask, “James, aren’t you leaving?”

“He has something else to do. He’s going on a business trip for three to four days. If you have anything, contact Jane directly. My father will be back tomorrow and I will probably be busy too.” Ken said.

“Miss Murphy?” Melody looked puzzled.

Ken said very seriously, “Jane is not a bad person. There are just too many misunderstandings between the two of you. I believe that if you spend more time together, the two of you will get along very well.”

Melody’s mood soured instantly.

Melody didn’t say anything and turned to look out the window.

Initially, Melody had hoped to make peace with Jane.

But after several confrontations, Melody realized some people could never be friends, no matter how many times you tried to reintroduce yourself.

“Oh right.” Melody retracted his gaze and turned to look at Ken. “Since Mr. Ramon is back and Margaret is fully recovered, can we arrange a time to finalize the divorce?”

“Squeak.”

The car braked suddenly.

Melody was not wearing a seatbelt, so she leaned forward quickly. Fortunately, she grabbed the handlebars in time. Otherwise, she would have hit the windshield.

“Ken, what are you doing?”

Ken did not have any romantic feelings for her, so why was Ken reacting so strongly when she mentioned divorce?

She glanced at Ken and saw his usual calm expression as he resumed driving.

Only then did Melody notice that a puppy was standing on the road?

Melody was instantly relieved.

Melody realized his reaction was about the dog, not the divorce.

She was overthinking.

Fortunately, she hadn’t voiced her thoughts.

Ken said calmly, “Alright, I’ll settle the divorce after I’m done with my work.”

Ken’s straightforward agreement made Melody feel unexpectedly uneasy. Still, she ignored the feeling.

However, she had intentionally ignored this wave.

“Okay, I’ll wait for your notice,” said Melody.

Soon, they arrived at the Fox family.

Just as she was about to get out of the car, Ken suddenly asked, “I heard from James that the equipment you bought was stolen by Icy Clear Cosmetics?”

Melody’s expression cooled, “Stolen? More like robbed.”

Ken looked at her and asked, “You really don’t need my help?”

Despite having ample time to mention the equipment issue, she hadn’t said a word about it.

“No need.” Melody shook his head and said, “It has been resolved. Do you still remember that we saved a person who was injured in a car accident?”

“I remember,” Ken replied.

“His mother happens to be in the research field of pharmaceutical products. She said that she could lend me the equipment. I don’t have time to argue with those people over a piece of equipment. There are only three days left for the bet. I might as well let them think that I can’t study new products.” said Melody

“You’re lucky.” Ken said meaningfully, “The driver who hit that person has been arrested. Under the interrogation of my people, he confessed things to the Lawrence family. The Lawrence family and the others will announce the verdict tomorrow. In the future, you don’t have to worry about the Lawrence family people causing trouble.”

“What about your mother’s case?” Melody asked.

“There’s no evidence yet, but I believe that Mrs. Lawrence will give herself away soon,” Ken replied.

At this point, Melody felt that it was too late and took the initiative to say, “It’s late. I’ll go back first. As for Miss Murphy, you don’t have to persuade me anymore. Women aren’t like men who can make up after a fight.”

Ken’s lips moved. “If she stops looking for trouble, are you unwilling to reconcile?”

Melody frowned, feeling a spark of anger.
