Chapter 338

As soon as Russell spoke, he immediately tried to guilt-trip Melody.

If Melody really did press charges against Russell, Yolanda, and Mabel, Melody would be seen as the villain.

Of course, Melody was well aware of this.

If Melody sued Russell and Yolanda, they would ruin Melody’s reputation in Silverlake.

Melody wouldn’t destroy her own reputation over a moment of anger.

Melody laughed mockingly, unsure if she was mocking her own misery or Russell’s shamelessness. “I can let this go without pressing charges, but Mabel has to apologize to me.”

Since Melody couldn’t go after Russell and Yolanda, Melody turned her attention to Mabel.

As expected. Mabel immediately retorted after hearing that, “No way!”

Mabel thought. ‘I’d rather die or jump off the roof than apologize to Melody, that worthless eyesore!”

Melody had anticipated Mabel’s refusal, giving Melody the perfect opportunity to flare up.

Melody pursed her lips indifferently. “Dad, Yolanda, you see this? It’s not me trying to blow things up. Mabel doesn’t want to let this go.”

Russell’s face darkened as he glared at Mabel. “You misunderstood Melody. Now apologize! Do you really want her to press charges for defamation?”

“I…” Mabel wanted to argue but was silenced by a warning glance from Yolanda.

Gritting her teeth, Mabel whispered, “I’m sorry.”

Melody raised an eyebrow. “Sorry, what? I didn’t hear you.”

Clenching her fists, Mabel shouted, “I said I’m sorry! Now did you hear that?”

Melody casually dug at her ear. “Yeah, I hear you now.”

Mabel was livid, but with the police still there, she couldn’t act out. She had to hold back until they left.

Russell forced a laugh. “Alright, officers, the misunderstanding between these two kids is resolved, and Mabel has apologized. Thank you for your trouble. How about coming inside for a drink?”

“We don’t need anything.” The officer frowned, turning to confirm with Melody again if she needed help.

Melody said gratefully, “Thank you, but… we’re family. I don’t want to make things worse.”

The officer looked at Melody with sympathy and thought, ‘What a sensible girl.

After lecturing Russell, the officers got into the police car and left.

As soon as the police left, Russell’s demeanor instantly changed. He dropped the fake smile and coldly demanded, “You little bitch! You didn’t hit Mabel, so why didn’t you say so earlier? Were you trying to embarrass us? Does it make you happy to see us humiliated?”

Melody indeed hadn’t hit Mabel.

But with the trouble Melody caused at Icy Clear Cosmetics, Russell didn’t care if Mabel lied. To Russell, it was all Melody’s fault for provoking Mabel in the first place.

To Russell, everything was Melody’s fault!

Melody’s eyes were full of sarcasm. “Dad, didn’t I

explain? I told you the truth. But did you listen?”

“Stop making excuses! You could’ve stopped me from calling the police!” Russell yelled.

At the sight of this, Mabel felt a surge of triumph, thinking. Even though Melody has now proved she didn’t hit me, so what? Dad is still on my side.’

Mabel curved her lips into a smug, almost ear-to-ear smile.

At the same time, Russell’s anger grew as he scolded, “Don’t think that you don’t have to get out of the house after this. Hitting Mabel or not is minor compared to your arrogance and lack of consideration for this family!” Russell knew Mabel had lied about the incident, but it didn’t matter.

Russell kicked the suitcase by his feet as if he did not want to see Melody again. “Take your things and leave. Go back to the countryside! I’ve already bought your ticket. Just take your ID and get on the boat!”

Melody looked at Russell deeply. “Dad, are you really kicking me out?”

“Do I look like I’m joking? You arrogantly participated in the bet-on agreement and lost. Who knows what trouble you’ll cause in the future? For the sake of the Fox family, leave now!”

Melody locked eyes with Russell, her eyes gleaming. “So, you’re kicking me out because of the bet-on agreement?”

“Isn’t that serious enough?” Russell snapped, his face darkening, feeling more certain that Melody was beyond redemption.

‘Does she need the entire Fox family to be ruined before she understands the gravity of the situation?’ Russell thought.

With this thought in mind, Russell became more convinced that kicking Melody out was the right decision.

Melody remained calm and asked, “What if I won the bet-on agreement? Would you still be throwing me out?”

Russell sneered. “You won? Do you think we didn’t watch the livestream? You’re trying to deceive us again? Melody, is there anything you won’t stoop to?”

He was both furious and disappointed, having lost all faith in Melody.

“Stop wasting time and leave!” Russell urged in a low voice.

Mabel also said slowly, “That’s right. Melody, we all saw the livestream. The Water of Time you developed lost miserably. The experts didn’t even bother to comment on your product. Just go, or else Dad might get so mad he’ll hit you before throwing you out.”.

Mabel acted to be concerned, but the smirk on her face was undeniable.

Melody said in amusement, “Looks like you guys didn’t

even finish watching the livestream either.”

Janet and Sid had been the same way.

Why were people so impatient?

They were already watching the livestream at the time, so why didn’t they finish it?

Tired of explaining to Russell, Melody pulled out the contract Wilmot had insisted on giving her. “See for yourselves. Not only did I win the bet-on agreement, but Wilmot also gave me Silk Beauty Cosmetics. This is the transfer agreement signed by Jessica herself.”

Russell’s eyes twitched as he subconsciously took the contract and read it. Sure enough, it stated in black and white that Jessica’s shares and position were all unconditionally transferred to the party named, and that name was none other than Melody.

“This can’t be…” Russell muttered, stunned.

Yolanda also sensed something was wrong and was about to check the contract’s authenticity when Mabel blurted out, “Dad, this contract must be fake. We all watched the livestream. It clearly announced Icy Clear Cosmetics lost the bet-on agreement. Why would

Jessica write such a contract after winning?”

Russell, agreeing, glared at Melody coldly. “You shameless liar! Not only are you lying, but you also dared to forge a contract. Do you know that’s a crime? Are you not going to stop until you’re sent to the police station?”

Melody couldn’t believe Russell doubted even the contract. Frowning, Melody explained, “The contract is real. You can verify it if you don’t believe me.”

“Enough! I don’t want to hear any more of your nonsense. Get out of here now! The Fox family won’t tolerate a liar like you!” Russell shouted.

Mabel laughed coldly. “Dad, if she won’t leave, have someone throw her out.”

Russell nodded and commanded Roy, “Don’t just stand there. Throw her out immediately!”

Roy’s mouth twitched as he hesitated, knowing his fate all depended on Melody. ‘How would I dare to kick Melody out?’ Roy thought to himself.

Just as Roy was trying to figure out how to politely escort Melody out, the sound of sirens filled the air.
