Chapter 345

When Rodney saw the empty corridor, he thought for a moment that he had been operating for too long and was hallucinating.

He rubbed his eyes and saw a nurse passing by. He quickly grabbed her and asked, “Where are the family members of Lucas? Where did they all go?”

The nurse asked in surprise, “Did your surgery succeed?”

“That’s right!” Rodney said proudly. “We succeeded in a with a success rate of less than ten percent!” surgery

However, he did not take credit for it and immediately added, “The surgery was basically done by Miss Fox. Her medical skills are really amazing!”

The nurse could not help but be stunned. “Miss Fox is actually this powerful?”

“Of course.” Rodney was about to praise Melody when he suddenly remembered something important and asked seriously, “Where’s the patient’s family? Why isn’t there anyone waiting outside?”

The nurse patted her head and said, “Cason came back shamelessly later. He even said that your surgery would definitely fail.”

“And?” Rodney asked.

“After that, Mr. Morgan beat him up and chased him out. However, they were still influenced by Cason. They also felt that it was almost impossible for the surgery to succeed, so Mr. Morgan’s sister is now preparing for Lucas’s funeral,” the nurse replied.

This was really a huge misunderstanding. Rodney slapped his thigh and asked, “What about Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Morgan?”

“Mrs. Morgan hasn’t woken up yet. Mr. Morgan doesn’t want to see his son being pushed out with a white cloth on, so he’s been accompanying Mrs. Morgan’s bed,” the nurse said.

“Which ward?” Rodney asked.

“It’s downstairs in VIP room 01,” the nurse said.

“I’ll go tell them now,” Rodney replied. This was definitely a huge surprise for the Morgan family, who had already given up hope. He had to watch from the side to prevent them from fainting again like Zoe.

Rodney did not even wait for the elevator. He went down the stairs and quickly arrived at Zoe’s ward.

He pushed the door open and saw Ander holding Zoe’s hand in despair. Zoe was still unconscious.

Coincidentally, the doctor in charge of Zoe came out.

Rodney quickly asked, “It’s been more than five hours since our surgery. Why isn’t Mrs. Morgan awake yet? Have you given her medicine?”

The attending physician sighed and said, “The patient woke up once and fainted after crying. I just put her on an IV drip. I think she’ll wake up soon. By the way, is your surgery over?”

The attending physician’s question was very vague, but his words implied that Lucas was dead.

Rodney held his head high. “It’s over. Successfully over!”

“What?” The attending physician was shocked.

Lucas’s condition had spread throughout the entire hospital. Everyone thought Lucas was beyond redemption, and no one dared to help him. But now, the surgery was actually successful.

The attending physician asked, “How did you…?”

Rodney did not have time to explain to the attending physician. He patted his shoulder and entered the ward. “Mr. Morgan.”

Ander had been in deep pain, so he did not hear the conversation between Rodney and the attending physician. Only then did he come back to his senses and look at Rodney in confusion.

The next second, Ander closed his eyes in grief. “Dr. Stanton, you’re here…”

Rodney replied, “Mr. Morgan, the surgery…”

“You don’t have to say anything. We’re mentally prepared to accept this fact.” Ander waved his hand and said, “You’ve done your best, so I won’t blame you. It’s been more than five hours since the surgery, right? Thank you for your hard work. I’ve already asked someone to prepare gifts for you and Melody. I’ll get them to bring them to you later. I’ll wait for Zoe to wake up before dealing with Lucas’s funeral.”

Rodney quickly said, “No, we…”

He had just said a few words when Sienna hurriedly opened the door of the ward and came in.

“Ander, I’ve already contacted the funeral parlor and asked them to decorate the house. Are you really not coming with me to take a last look at Lucas?” Sienna’s voice was choked with sobs as she spoke.

She blamed herself. She even wondered if things would have been different if she hadn’t called Cason over on her own.

On the other side, Ander closed his eyes and finally stood up. “Let’s go and take a last look at Lucas. Dr. Stanton, please take care of Zoe…”

“No, no!” Rodney was so anxious that his forehead was covered in sweat. He opened his arms and stopped the two people who were about to walk out. He said in one breath, “You don’t have to prepare anything. Miss Fox and I saved Lucas!”

“Wh-what did you say?” It took Ander a while to realize what Rodney had just said. In his extreme shock, he grabbed Rodney’s collar and asked excitedly, “Did you say that Lucas isn’t dead? He’s saved?”

Rodney was uncomfortable with Ander’s actions. He tried his best to answer, “Yes! Lucas is not dead.”

As soon as Rodney finished speaking, Ander seemed to have lost his soul. He laughed and stood there in a daze, unable to recover from this surprise for a long time.

Although Sienna was also very happy, she didn’t react as intensely as Ander did. She quickly recovered from her excitement. When she turned around, she saw that Ander’s expression was very strange.

She quickly asked Rodney for help. “Dr. Stanton, please come and see my brother. What’s wrong with him?”

Rodney pinched Ander’s philtrum, but Ander was still in a daze.

“This situation is not good. I have to find Miss Fox!” Rodney said.

As if they were telepathic, Melody happened to appear at the door of the ward.

Seeing Ander like this, she immediately took a few steps forward and inserted the silver needles she carried with her into a few acupuncture points of Ander.

Ander instantly blacked out and fell to the side.

Melody was already prepared. She supported Ander and turned to Rodney. “Carry him to the bed.

Rodney and Sienna quickly went forward to help. The three of them carried Ander to the bed next door.

After doing this, Melody looked at Rodney and Sienna’s questioning eyes and explained, “This is caused by the joy after the great sorrow. Using your modern medicine’s words, he has an acute stress reaction. However, I’ve already given him acupuncture. He’ll be fine when he wakes up. It’s good news that Lucas is fine. The good news is easy to accept. He’ll be fine soon.”

Rodney nodded, wondering if he should ask Melody to teach her acupuncture. These silver needles were sometimes much more useful than their medicine.

Although Sienna didn’t understand what Melody meant by acute stress response, she understood what she said at the end. Knowing Ander would be fine, she finally felt relieved.

However, when she looked at Melody, she fell into deep self-blame. “Melody…”
