Chapter 374
Birthmark Guy froze for a moment, taken aback. “You know about us? And the forum? What does it say about us?”
Melody smirked, her eyes glinting with mockery. “The forum says you guys, who call yourselves the Death Riders, take on all the dirty jobs. But because you’re not skilled enough and take on too much shady work, even the black market won’t touch you. In other words, you’re rejects that even the underworld won’t accept.”
All three guys’ faces darkened immediately at her words. Birthmark Guy tightened his grip on the mace in his hand, seething with rage. “You little bitch! You’re asking to die and today is the day!”
Melody waggled a finger, taunting him, “Cut the crap. Don’t you know that too much talk would get you into trouble? So, you guys want to come at me one by one, or all together?” She paused, then smiled. “How about all of you come at me together? That way, no one can say I am picking on you.” She’d gone toe-to-toe with the top assassins in the black market and held her own. These Death Riders were nothing in comparison.
Birthmark Guy was stunned for a second, then completely enraged. “Get her! But don’t kill her right away. I want to have some fun with her before I strangle her myself!”
“Yes, sir!” The two guys beside Birthmark Guy exchanged a glance, clearly not seeing Melody as a threat.
“You go first. You’ve got one minute,” one of them said to the smaller guy.
The smaller guy chuckled. “One minute? You think I need that long? Thirty seconds tops. As he spoke, he took a few steps then suddenly sped up and charged at Melody. To show off his confidence, he even tossed aside as he rushed at her.
Melody stood her ground, waiting for the smaller guy to forward. He could clearly see the contempt in her which only made him speed up. Just as he was about to grab her neck, a surprisingly strong hand caught his wrist He looked down and saw it was Melody’s hand.
Before he could react, Melody gave a slight twist of her wrist. He felt like his wrist was snapping, and a sudden wave surged through him. It rendered him powerless in an instant, leaving him crouched on the ground, wailing in pain. Ahhhh… It hurts!”
Birthmark Guy cursed, “Useless piece of trash!”
“I’ll go! The other guy volunteered. He was more cautious keeping his mace in hand. He swung it towards Melody’s thee. The mace itself wasn’t lethal, but the spikes could easily tear through skin and flesh. It was clear that a hit to her face would leave her severely injured. But Melody remained calm. As the mace came swinging toward her fare, she ducked and avoided the blow. Before he could rear, she landed a powerful punch to his gut.
Melody was an expert in medical skills, knowing exactly where to hit to cause the most damage with the least effort. Sure enough, her punch landed, and the man’s face went pale. He clutched his stomach and rolled on the ground in
Melody showed no mercy, pressing her foot on his head and looking coldly at Birthmark Guy. “I told you to come at me together. Now we’re just wasting time. Your turn.”
Birthmark Guy’s face was twisted with fury and anger.
“You’re all useless! Can’t you even handle a young girl! None of will see a dime from this job!” He spat on the ground, dropped the mace, and drew a gleaming knife, advancing on Melody with determined steps.
A few seconds later, Melody kicked Birthmark Guy away. Before he could get up, she swiftly pinned him to the ground with a precise hold, leaving him completely immobilized. “Speak! Who sent you guys?”
Birthmark Guy stared in disbelief, wondering, ‘In only a few seconds, this young girl has me subdued?’ He struggled desperately, but Melody’s hold was unbreakable and he couldn’t budge.
After a while, Birthmark Guy realized it wasn’t that his two men were weak; Melody was just far superior. And he also realized something else. She hadn’t taken the main route but a back road. It was all a trap, a setup to lure them out and take them down one by one. ‘What a cunning woman!” Birthmark Guy cursed inwardly. He didn’t realize that if they hadn’t tried to kill Melody, they wouldn’t be in this mess. It wasn’t her cunning, but their own doing.
Facing Melody’s questioning, Birthmark Guy clenched his teeth. “You won’t get a word out of us! Not betraying our employers is the forum’s rules and our principles!”
Melody laughed coldly. “Rules and principles, huh? Let me show you mine.” As she spoke, she pulled out a silver needle from her bag and jabbed it into a specific pressure point on the man’s body. The needle was custom-made, and coated with a special liquid. When inserted into a specific pressure point, it caused excruciating pain that felt like it would never end. Melody had prepared this for self-defense, never expecting to need it so soon.
The moment the needle pierced Birthmark Guy’s skin, he felt as if a worm had burrowed into his insides, writhing and tearing through his organs. From his toes to his head, every inch of him was in agonizing pain. In just a few seconds, he was completely drained, gasping for air, unable to even scream. It wasn’t long before he lost control of his body, and a foul odor filled the air. It was a brutal assault on both his body and mind.
Seeing that Birthmark Guy was on the verge, Melody’s eyes glinted coldly as she questioned him again, “Speak! Who hired you? Tell me, or you’ll keep feeling this pain until you pass out. And when you wake up, it’ll start all over again.”
Birthmark Guy was on the brink of collapsing, both mentally and physically. He finally gave in, his voice trembling. “Alright, I’ll talk… just please, get me out of this.”
Melody wasn’t buying it, and she casually replied, “You tell me what I want to know, and then I’ll stop the pain.”
Birthmark Guy knew he couldn’t play mind games with Melody, Gritting his teeth, he said, “Employers on the forum usually don’t use real names. This one paid a million dollars for your head, but I don’t know her real name…
Melody had expected as much. “Give me the phone you used to take the job.”
Barely able to speak, Birthmark Guy whispered, “In… my pocket…”
“Which pocket?”
After a moment’s hesitation, he said, “Right… right side.”
Melody reached into his right pocket and immediately sensed something was off. There was something in there.
