Chapter 625
Melody held her phone and explained, “Previously, I took Deathtenaire from you, but you refused to accept the money. I’ve been thinking about it…”
“I was wondering why. So it’s this. You’ve been working so hard for Herbathrive recently. I’m not a petty person. I’ll give the money back to you.”
“Don’t.” Melody hastened to add, “If you don’t accept it, I won’t be able to sleep well every night.”
“You’re really…” Colin had no choice but to accept the money.
They chatted for a while about Beverly’s illness and what had happened in Herbathrive before hanging up. In another half a month, Colin and Beverly would be back. She would be a little free.
At this moment, David ran back. “What happened?” Melody asked him.
“Miss Fox, the dean from First Hospital sent some documents over,” he replied.
Melody took the document bag and took a look. She was surprised to find that there were several share transfer contracts inside..
She quickly scanned them and found that Oliver had transferred almost all the fixed assets under his name to her.
‘No way! What the hell? These fixed assets and shares combined are worth more than 180 million dollars in my bank account, Melody thought in shock.
Melody quickly asked David, “Where is Oliver?”
David looked at the documents in her hand curiously. He scratched his head and answered, “He left after handing it to me. Miss Fox, what’s wrong? What’s this?”
“Don’t worry about that for now. Go get him back.”
“Yes.” David turned around and ran out.
However, Oliver had already left. David ran back, panting, and said he couldn’t catch Oliver up.
Melody tried to call Oliver, only to find the number no longer in use. Helpless, she had no choice but to ask David to go to the bank for her. Then she called Gerard.
Gerard answered it very quickly, and Miranda’s voice came from the other end of the phone, asking, “Gerard, when can you perform this surgery?”
Gerard gestured for Miranda to wait for a moment. He held his phone tightly and asked, “Melody, what is it?”
Melody told him about Oliver. Gerard was also shocked for a moment before he spoke again.
“He probably doesn’t want to stay in Silverlake anymore. It’s just that I didn’t expect… He left without even saying goodbye to us.”
Melody asked tentatively, “Has the misunderstanding between you and Ms. Gill been resolved?”
“Yes, it has been a sham marriage, between her and him. An hour ago, they just got a divorce.”
Melody completely understood.
Miranda made up with Gerard, and Oliver became an outsider. There was no longer a place for Oliver in Silverlake. He was indeed a pitiful person.
So what could love do to people? It brought more harm than sweetness, right?
Melody’s eyes narrowed as she got down to business. “But I can’t keep these things. Can you pass your phone to Miranda?”
“Okay,” Gerard said.
Gerard briefly told Miranda what had happened. Miranda immediately called Oliver. No one answered, so she could only call her adopted daughter.
However, her adopted daughter knew nothing. She only said Oliver had left a message that he was going on a business trip and asked her to go to Herbathrive or Miranda if she needed anything in the future.
A person would only leave quietly if they had made up his mind and had no attachments.
Miranda was silent for a moment before taking Gerard’s phone. “Miss Fox, thank you for saving my life,” she said.
“This is what I should do as a doctor. You don’t have to thank me. As for the things Mr. Wallrich gave me, I’ll get someone to send them to you now, right? Where are you?” Melody asked.
“I’m here…” Miranda changed the topic and said, “No need. Since it’s something he left for you, it’s yours.”
“But…”
“Miss Fox, you saved me and were misunderstood and hurt by him. He even injured your friend so badly. He must feel very sorry. He says mean things to people, but he’s actually very kind. There are two reasons for doing so. First, he is guilty and grateful; second, he trusts you. He must be very confident in you. That’s why he handed those assets to you to manage.”
“But you’re here, aren’t you? There’s no reason to leave all this to me.”
“Gerard and I originally planned to travel around the world after my surgery, but Oliver left like this and I’m worried about him. So I plan to find him with Gerard after the surgery. The three of us grew up together, so there’s no reason for us to separate now. After we find him, we might never come back.”
Melody’s expression froze slightly as she guessed, ‘Are they going to live together?’
However, Melody had nothing to do with their private life and did not want to pry. But at the request of Miranda and Gerard, she had no choice but to accept the Wallrich family’s assets.
“There’s also my adopted daughter and her daughter. After we leave, please help us take care of them. I’m a little worried about them staying home alone,” Miranda said.
Whether Miranda reminded her or not, Melody wouldn’t leave the mother and daughter unattended.
“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of them,” Melody replied.
“Thanks a lot.”
After the call ended, Melody thought about the assets in her hand and suddenly felt overwhelmed.
She would not accept these assets like this. She was just temporarily managing them on behalf of Oliver and Miranda’s adopted daughter to prevent Charlotte from taking them.
Melody knew Miranda’s adopted daughter and granddaughter. If Melody didn’t help, the assets would probably fall into Charlotte’s hands sooner or later.
“Alas…” Melody let out a long sigh and called James over.
“I’ll have to trouble you to help me find someone who can manage my assets. It doesn’t matter if it costs more than average, as long as this person is reliable,” she said to James.
Melody didn’t have that much time to take care of the companies and fixed assets left behind by Oliver.
In particular, Oliver’s assets were more abundant than she believed. Even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t be able to do it.
James rolled his eyes and said, “Miss Fox, have you forgotten Zack, the guy you personally poached? That’s what he does. According to the company’s rules, no workers are allowed to work part-time outside. But Mr. Swanson should agree if he knows it’s you.”
His words enlightened Melody. She had forgotten about the financial genius, Zack.
She first sent a text message to Ken. After getting Ken’s approval, she called Zack. Zack agreed without hesitation and refused to charge any fees.
“That won’t do. I can’t you work for free,” Melody said over the phone.
Zack was already helping to run Ximber Tech. With the work on both sides added up, he would be extremely busy.
However, Zack refused to accept it. In the end, he made a compromise and said, “How about this? My grandfather has been talking about you. He relapses often. Why don’t you help me treat his illness in return? You can visit him more often. That would be a great help to me.”
“Alright.” Melody agreed readily, but she still secretly decided to give Zack 10% of the annual income of Oliver’s assets as dividends. This was a lot of money, even more than what Zack earned at Ximber Tech.
In the blink of an eye, the sun was already setting in the west. Melody ate directly in Herbathrive’s kitchen.
Talia’s cooking tasted as good as the dishes from restaurants. Melody was about to eat when Ruby suddenly called.
