Chapter 626
Ruby was not even three months pregnant and it was her first pregnancy. She did not have much experience and was at the most dangerous stage. If she was not careful enough, something might happen.
Melody immediately put down her fork and answered the call as she walked out.
“Hello? Ruby, what happened?” Melody asked.
The nervousness in her tone made Ruby smile and say, “Don’t be nervous. My baby and I are fine.”
Melody was relieved. Without telling James to drive, she turned around and returned to her room in the backyard.
“Then why did you suddenly call?” Melody asked.
“It’s like this. Mason is coming back. Before he boarded the plane, he called me and said that Russell wanted to treat me to a meal tonight. I had morning sickness and wasn’t feeling well. Now I feel much better so I called to tell you about this,” Ruby answered.
Melody raised her eyebrows. She already guessed that Russell was looking for Mason to help him lend his money.
As far as she knew, Russell had already borrowed a lot of money. Melody was surprised that he continued. Greed sometimes would turn a smart person into an idiot.
Greed sometimes would turn a smart person into an idiot. However, the more Russell trapped himself and the Justalion Group, the more beneficial the situation was for her.
Melody was silent for a while before saying, “Ruby, you know a little about the grudge between me and Russell. I wonder if it’s convenient for you to bring me along to this dinner?”
“Of course, it’s convenient.” Ruby said without thinking further, “If you ask me not to go, Mason and I won’t even see him. If you don’t want Mason to lend him money, just say it. We won’t even need you to come over. One word from you, we can reject him at once,” Ruby replied.
There was a sly look in Melody’s eyes. “It’s not that I don’t want you to lend him money, but don’t agree easily.”
“What do you mean? Do you want us to agree or not?” Ruby was confused.
Melody chuckled and said, “You don’t have to care what it means. When you arrive, you only need to take care of yourself and the baby in your belly. Mason will know what to do.”
“Okay, then I’ll give you the address. You can set off in half an hour.”
“Alright, see you then.” Melody hung up the phone and a cold glint flashed across her eyes.
‘Greed is one’s downfall. Russell is giving me the opportunity. How can I not seize it? Mother, wait for me. I’ll get the Justalion Group back soon, she thought.
Melody composed her before going out. Coincidentally, Nana, who had just finished eating, came to look for her.
“Miss Fox, I saw you come out in a hurry without even eating. Did something happen?” Nana asked.
Melody shook her head. “Nothing much. A friend asked me out for dinner,” Melody replied.
Nana heaved a sigh of relief. “Good. If there’s anything we can help with, just let us know.”
Melody smiled. “Okay. By the way… Have you decided whether you want to use the thing I gave you?”
Nana immediately lowered her eyes. What Melody gave her was evidence of her father’s infidelity.
After struggling for a day and night, Nana made the same choice as Talia. Nana didn’t want to go back to the days when she was pampered but had to listen to her father, so she decided to stay.
Nana replied, “I was just about to tell you… I’ve already sent the things back to my family. I’m afraid he’s already received it. My home should be in chaos.”
Melody misunderstood and thought Nana and Talia planned to take the opportunity to return to the Jensen family.
So Melody nodded understandingly. “I respect all your decisions. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll come often to enjoy your mother’s cooking.”
“No.” Nana immediately explained, “We’re not going back.”
“Huh?” Melody was stunned. “You’ve already sent the things back. Are you going to miss such a good opportunity?”
Nana smiled bitterly and said, “I want to work hard to get what I want. I don’t want my father’s charity. My mother also prefers her current life and doesn’t want to see those hypocritical rich women anymore. Sending the things back is our way of getting back at him for his heartlessness and selfishness.”
Melody now understood. “Again, I’ll respect all your decisions. If you want to leave one day, I won’t stop you. But if you stay here, I won’t let anyone bully you.”
Tears came to Nana’s eyes as she felt moved. “Thank you, Miss Fox.”
“I’m only one year older than you. You don’t have to call me that. Just call me by my name.”
“Okay, Melody.”
“It sounds better.”
As they chatted, their understanding had been all gone. Melody would rather have one more friend than one more enemy. It was good that Nana was sincerely repentant.
Half an hour passed before they knew it. Melody glanced at her watch and said, “It’s almost time for my appointment. Tell your mother not to save me a meal. After my appointment, I probably won’t return to Herbathrive.”
“Alright.” Nana nodded and watched her leave.
Nana walked back to the kitchen until Melody disappeared into the distance. Then she told Talia not to save food for Melody tonight.
Worried for Melody, Talia said, “Oh, she’s so busy all day. I don’t want her to tire herself out.”
Nana pretended to be jealous. “You treat Melody much better than you treat me now.”
Talia tapped her forehead. “If it hadn’t been for Miss Fox, we would have starved on the streets. Aren’t you calling her Melody yourself?”
Nana chuckled. She felt Melody gave this good vibe that no one could hate her. And the more Nana interacted with her, the more she liked her.
If Nana hadn’t dated two boyfriends and confirmed sex orientation, she would have suspected that she was in love with Melody.
When Nana thought of this, her expression suddenly became solemn. “I have to find a prescription I used to treat acne on my face and give it to Melody tomorrow. I don’t know if it can cure the thing on her face. Anyway, I’ll give it to her to try,” she said and left in a hurry.
Talia shook her head and continued to wash the dishes. Although her life at Herbathrive was not as easy as before at home, she still felt peace. It was the kind of peace that no one could take away from her this comfortable life.
Now James was Ken’s right-hand man. James’s driving skills were as good as Seventeen’s.
The traffic jam after work did not bother James at all. He swooshed all the way to the entrance of Blue Moon Lounge.
This was the address Ruby gave Melody. Looking at the antique signboard, Melody smiled bitterly.
Melody did not expect that she would have to come to this restaurant twice a day while ordinary people could not even get a table inside.
“James, wait for me in the car. I should be done soon,” she said.
“Got it.” James nodded. In a good mood, he turned around and drove away.
Although both he and Seventeen worked for Ken, they had very different characters. It would be great if they could learn from each other.
Melody did not think much about it. Just as she was about to step into Blue Moon Lounge, she heard Russell’s displeased voice asking, “Why are you here?”
