Chapter 683
Zara was kind and innocent. She was countless times better than Janet. If Ken interacted more with her, he would probably like her more and more. Although Zara came from a different family background than Ken’s, this should not be a problem for Ken.
Melody could not explain what Ken was feeling at that moment. Her heart felt complicated.
There was a sense of relief and an indescribable discomfort and suffocation. Her brain felt like it was about to explode. She slapped her cheek hard and told herself she mustn’t overthink things.
After a few seconds, Melody composed herself and said, “Then I thank you on behalf of Zara.”
Ken was also clueless about what Melody was thinking. He raised his eyebrows and gripped his phone tightly. “I don’t need verbal thanks.”
“Then… should I ask her to treat you to a meal?”
Ken frowned. He didn’t know why Zara was involved in everything. He did not help because of Zara. It was just that Melody cared a lot about Zara, so he helped Zara. Besides, the filming would only take half a day and wouldn’t compromise his schedule.
Ken thought for a moment for a way to get rid of Zara. “Let’s not talk about Zara for now. She’s soft and I’m afraid I’ll scare her if I tell her about this. I might as well inform her on the day of the broadcast.”
Melody’s heart ached again. ‘Does Ken hear the words he said?’ She felt as if he was going to end this surreal marriage.
“Then let her say her thanks when the time comes.”
“That doesn’t matter. If you want to thank me, you can treat me to dinner tonight.”
“Sure.” Melody asked in a slightly hoarse voice, “Which restaurant do you want to go to?”
However, just as she asked that question, she heard James’s anxious voice from the other end of the phone, “Sir, I just received news that Mr. Quant is awake.”
Melody’s eyes lit up. ‘Sid wakes up?’
“Got it,” Ken replied and said to Melody, “Are you busy? If not, would you like to come with me meeting Sid?”
“I’m pretty much free right now. I’ll meet you there.”
“Alright, Spencer should be back soon. Ask him to drive you there. I’ll come right after you.”
“Got it!”
The call ended, and Spencer knocked on the door. “Miss Fox, I have delivered the food.”
Melody stood up and said, “Let’s go to the hospital where Sid is.”
Spencer nodded immediately. “Yes, Ma’am!”
However, as soon as Melody arrived at the lobby, she bumped into Nana and Talia. Both of them seemed to have just cried. Their eyes were red. Melody glanced sideways at Spencer and said, “Wait for me in the car.” Then, she walked to Nana and her mom. “Have you thought about it? Are you going back or staying?”
Nana glanced at Talia and nodded. “Melody, I’m so sorry… I plan to go back today. I’ll leave after I hand over some things.”
Melody nodded and smiled. “I wish you all the best.”
Nana was touched. It was Melody who taught her how to be a good person. She took her in when she was at her lowest point. To leave just like that, not only was she sad, but she was also happy. She felt that meeting such a kind and noble person again would be difficult. Fortunately, The Jensen family was only half an hour away from Herbathrive. She could come back often to take a look.
Nana took a deep breath and said, “My mother has decided to stay. I hope you can care for her when I’m not around.”
Melody was a little surprised. She did not expect that Talia would choose to stay. Talia saw the surprise in her eyes and took the divorce certificate from her bag.
“Dennis and I have just officially gone through the divorce procedures. Nana is already an adult, so there’s no need for the court to decide who she should be raised by. Miss Fox, please don’t mind me, and let me continue working here.”
Melody was stunned before responding, “Of course. But… Dennis agreed to divorce you?” She thought Dennis would cherish Talia more than before after seeing his mistress’s despicable face.
Nana explained, “After knowing that his mistress had lied to him from the beginning, he wanted Mom to return. However, Mom has already made up her mind to get a divorce. I’ve also said that if he doesn’t agree to the divorce, I won’t return either, so he can only agree.”
As Nana spoke, she winked at Melody and added, “But for the time being, I’m afraid he’ll have to come here every day.”
Melody understood what was going on. She smiled gently and said, “I understand. No matter what decision you make, I’ll support it.
Momma Talia, the clinic will be on break for three days. I have something to deal with somewhere, and I’m afraid I’ll have to leave this place to you.”
“No problem.” Talia nodded. “Then I’ll stay in the backyard for the next three days. I can also help you take care of your friend.” By ‘Friend,’ she referred to Seventeen. Seventeen could change his clothes, so Talia only needed to prepare meals.
Melody heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Then I’ll leave everything to you. You guys go ahead with your work. I’ll go deal with some matters first.”
“Okay, Miss Fox, take care.”
Melody nodded and quickly got into the car. The car went away and arrived at the hospital where Sid was. His injuries were serious and he could not leave the ICU. However, since he had awakened, the most dangerous time had passed. He could be transferred to
Silverlake for a second surgery.
Soon, they arrived at the hospital. When Melody arrived at the hospital, Ken was not there yet.
She went to the ICU where Sid was. However, she saw Sid’s father, Sebastian Quant, in the hospital lobby. When Sebastian looked at her in the past, his gaze was always unpleasant.
Melody didn’t know if it was because Sid had said something to him after waking up or some other reason. But before Melody could speak, Sebastian took the initiative to greet her politely. “Miss Fox, you’re here! Sorry for troubling you. Please forgive me for offending you back then.”
Melody was even more surprised. ‘What’s wrong with him?’
She didn’t overthink Sebastian’s behavior and smiled. “Mr. Quant, please. Sid is my friend. It’s only right for me to come and see him.” She paused and added, “I’d like to see Sid’s condition.”
“Miss Fox, please wait a moment. I have an old friend who wants to see you.”
