Chapter 684

“Good friend? I wonder who it is…”

As soon as Melody finished speaking, she heard a familiar voice, “The conditions in this hospital are indeed poor. You can’t even get a cup of coffee.”

Melody quickly looked in the direction of the voice. It was Nickolas, who had previously attended her birthday banquet. Warner Stood behind him.

Warner was the first to see Melody, and his eyes instantly lit up. “Miss Fox?”

It was only then that Nickolas saw her and walked over happily. “Miss Fox, long time no see. I’ve always wanted to contact you, but Warner won’t let me. He said you’re working at your clinic and have no time to chat with me.”

‘Warner knows that I own a clinic?’ Melody did not notice the slight blush on Warner’s cheeks. She smiled and greeted Nickolas, “Mr. Chapman, what are you talking about? If you want to see me, I will make time no matter how busy I am.”

As she spoke, Melody had already finished observing Nickolas’s face. The last time he went to her birthday banquet, his eyelids drooped, looking very scary. But at that moment, he looked fresh, a polar opposite to his last appearance. Nickolas probably believed the prescription she gave and took the medicine daily. Melody also realized that the sudden change in Sebastian’s attitude towards her must be because of Nickolas.

Nickolas said happily, “Thanks to your prescription, I have fully recovered. It’s a miracle. You’re not just a skilled painter, but also a skilled doctor! I’ve seen famous doctors in Halcyon, but none could treat my illness. I didn’t expect to recover after drinking two prescriptions from you.”

Melody smiled and said, “It’s also because of your healthy lifestyle that your illness recovered so quickly.”

“Hahahaha…” As Nickolas laughed, his gaze swept across Sebastian

and said, “Sebastian is my old subordinate. I’m here to see his son today. I mentioned you to him by chance, but I didn’t expect him to know you. Silverlake is indeed small.”

“Yes, it’s a coincidence.” Sebastian smiled awkwardly. He was glad he hadn’t mentioned in front of Nickolas that he had treated Melody coldly not long ago.

Melody offered, “Mr. Quant, if you’re willing to believe in my medical skills, I can volunteer to perform a second surgery on Sid. Don’t worry, as long as you agree, I’ll do my best.”

“This…” Sebastian had already contacted Insterimond’s top surgeon. He waited for Sid to recover before going to Insterimond for a second surgery.

Sebastian was in a dilemma, and Nickolas frowned concernedly.

“Sebastian, what are you hesitating for? She can treat my illness. Are you skeptical he won’t be able to save your son? I know his injuries are serious, but they’re still much easier to treat than my illness. I think you can rest assured and hand it to Miss Fox! Don’t think about her age. Look at me. She’s the reason I look like this.”

“But…” Sebastian was still a little hesitant. He had never liked Ken Swanson, and Melody happened to be someone close to him. In addition, he still did not believe Melody’s surgical skills could be better than the top doctor he had arranged to meet.

‘If Melody’s surgical skills are superb, why was she only the assistant of the surgeon in this hospital during the first surgery and not the chief surgeon herself?’ In Sebastian’s view, good medical skills did not mean good surgical skills. After all, surgery and prescribing medicine were two different things.

Back then, Sebastian was deceived. He thought the person performing the first surgery on Sid was not Melody, but the son of the hospital’s director, Adrian. Even with Nickolas’s words, he didn’t dare to agree easily. So, he said vaguely, “Sid has just woken up, and it’s still too early to talk about surgery. We’ll see when the time comes.”

Melody understood Sebastian’s concerns and didn’t want to force him too much. She changed the topic and said, “Alright, I’ll go and see how Sid is recovering. We’ll talk about the surgery after I visit him.”

“Alright, go ahead. I’ll come over after I have my coffee,” Nickolas said.

Sebastian heaved a sigh of relief. Although Quant family was developing rapidly, he needed to rely on The Chapman family’s support. If he rejected Melody’s proposal in front of Nickolas, it could create tension between the two families.

Melody said goodbye to them and was about to go upstairs when Warner followed her. “Miss Fox, I’ll go with you to see Sid.”

Melody nodded. As she walked, she asked, “Are you familiar with Sid too?”

Warner suddenly looked uncomfortable. He said, “We used to play together when we were young. After we grew up, we didn’t play together much. Especially when he went overseas later. I was still in this country. And when I went overseas, he had already returned. It was difficult to meet him.”

However, he knew Sid and Melody were friends. So, he followed his grandfather there. Sure enough, he bumped into Melody. He had been paying attention to everything about her lately. As he got to know Melody better, he developed different feelings for her. Even though he knew she and Ken Swanson were married on his grandfather’s birthday, he could not help but want to understand her heart better.

Melody did not know what Warner was thinking. She smiled and said, “Then he should be glad to see you. Sid is a lively person. Now that you’re back in the country, you can play with him more often. Just remember not to be led astray by him.”

Warner frowned. “I’m not a child anymore. How can I be led astray?” He was the same age as Melody, but she seemed to like to talk to him in such an experienced tone. It was as if she was many years older as if an adult was educating a child.

Melody did not know what she had said to make Warner angry. She quickly tried to ease the situation. “Yes, yes, yes. I was wrong. How could you be led astray?”

‘It feels more like coaxing a child.’ She thought. Meanwhile, Warner was even more displeased. He remained quiet with a stiff face.

They had already taken the elevator to the ICU floor as they spoke. However, as soon as they walked out, Melody felt something was wrong. Although she had not come there again after the incident, she knew that Ken Swanson had sent many people to protect Sid on this floor. But at that moment, the corridor was empty. Not to mention people, there was not even a ghost. ‘Something feels off.’

She lowered her voice and said, “Warner, stay here. Go down and get someone to come up. Tell them that something might have happened up here.”

Warner did not know what happened to Sid. He only thought he was injured by accident. Hearing this, he was about to ask what could happen in the hospital when Melody pressed the button for him to go downstairs as she walked out.
