Chapter 702

Melody’s lips twitched, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes.

“Mr. Graham, your joke isn’t amusing. Let’s focus on the price of that wine. If doubling the compensation isn’t enough, I can pay you ten times the amount.”

“Ten times? Ha!”

Reece laughed mockingly. “That bottle was a collector’s item, worth 180 thousand dollars. You say you’ll pay ten times that? You couldn’t even afford a tenth of it! So, stop wasting time and get Zara here, or don’t even think about leaving with your friend!

“And don’t think you’re tough just because you can fight. Last time, we weren’t prepared, but today, my men are all professionals. Don’t make things worse for yourself.”

Reece paused, then added, “You beat up more than just me last time. If I wanted, I could call the others, and they’d love to deal with you, especially Zane. He’s been itching for revenge. You’d better think carefully before you refuse calling Zara.

At that, Melody couldn’t help but laugh.

Reece’s expression darkened. “What’s so funny?”

Melody tugged at her sleeves and said calmly, “Reece, you’re close with Zane, right? He’s in police custody, awaiting trial. Don’t you know?”

Reece’s face froze. “That’s impossible!”

Melody shrugged. “If you don’t believe me, ask around. You’ll find out that Zane’s in jail.”

Reece didn’t believe it and quickly called one of Zane’s close friends. After a few questions, he learned the truth. Zane had gone to where Melody worked to cause trouble, but instead of teaching her a lesson, he got himself and his mother arrested. They’d even been kicked out of the Jensen family.

“Damn it! How dare you put my bro in jail!”

Melody spoke slowly, “Don’t get it twisted. I didn’t do anything to him. He brought it on himself. Now, I’ll ask one last time. Will you accept ten times the compensation?”

Just then, David managed to spit out the cloth gagging him.

“Miss Fox, don’t be fooled! I didn’t break that bottle of wine. Reece did it himself and tried to frame me!”

“I see.” Melody looked at Reece coldly. “In that case, I don’t owe you a dime. Now untie my friend, or I won’t be so polite.”

Melody had tried reasoning with Reece because she didn’t want to resort to violence, assuming David might have been at fault. But now, knowing David wasn’t to blame, she felt no need to hold back.

Reece, however, burst out laughing as if he’d heard the funniest joke. “Listen to this, boys! This ugly freak thinks you’re all just decorations! Ha.”

Melody’s eyes narrowed.

“You refuse to see reason.”

“Do you want me to beat some sense into you? Fine, have it your way. Boys, get her!”

At his command, a group of thugs rushed toward Melody.

Spencer stepped in front of her. “Miss Fox, let me handle this. No need to dirty your hands.”

“Alright, I’ll leave it to you. I’ll get David.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

As soon as Spencer finished speaking, the thugs attacked. But he didn’t take them seriously. In under two minutes, all 20 of them were on the ground, groaning in pain,

completely incapacitated.

“Damn it!”

Reece hadn’t taken the skinny Spencer seriously at first, but

now he was furious seeing how easily his men were defeated.

“Get up, you useless idiots! Fight back!”

“Huh?” Spencer’s eyes flashed with cold, sharp intent.

Reece shuddered, finally sensing danger.

“You, stay away.”

Suddenly, Reece’s eyes landed on David, still tied to a chair. A sinister idea crossed his mind. He could use David as a hostage.

But as Reece took a step forward, he tripped over a foot that suddenly extended in his path.

With a loud thud, Reece fell face-first onto the floor.

“Ah!” he screamed in pain, instinctively looking up at who had tripped him.

Before he could fully register what happened, a foot pressed down on his back, pinning him to the ground.

“Ah!!!” Reece screamed again, feeling as though his spine had been shattered. The pain was unbearable, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Melody looked down at him, her expression cold and unfeeling.

With one foot on his back, she leaned down and stared at Reece’s flushed face. “I warned you not to refuse a reasonable offer. Why didn’t you listen?”

Reece tried to curse, but before he could, Melody continued, “Since my friend didn’t break the wine, we’ll be leaving now. Consider this a small lesson. If we meet again, I’ll make sure you’re unable to stand for the rest of your life.”

“You.”

“Hmm?” Melody pressed down harder with her foot. “Are you still not convinced?”

Reece was in so much pain that cold sweat covered his forehead. He was terrified Melody would actually crush him. Trembling, he stammered, “I’m convinced. It’s my fault. Just take your friend and go. No need to pay!”

“And do I still need to call Zara over?”

“No, no! Just go!”

Satisfied, Melody lifted her foot and signaled Spencer to untie David. Together, they headed for the door.

But just as they reached it, Reece, struggling to his feet, shouted after them, “I won’t let you get away with this! My girlfriend is the daughter of the Webb Group. Just you wait. I’ll make you pay!”

His voice dripped with venom, like a snake ready to strike.

Hearing this, Melody paused and turned back to face him, her expression indifferent.
