Chapter 73

Watching the doctors drive away, Astrid instead calms down. Instead, it was her assistant who was anxious on her behalf.

“Mrs. Astrid, what do we do now? Even Mr. Ramon believes that wretched girl’s words now.”

Astrid sneered and looked towards the second-floor window. “This is a good thing.”

Margaret having vomited blood indicated her days were numbered. In this situation, although Ramon was deceived by Melody, as long as Margaret died, Melody would still be held accountable.

Moreover, she wished Margaret would pass away sooner rather than later!

Now, by using Melody’s hand to get rid of Margaret and making Melody the enemy of the Swanson family. Astrid was the only one who didn’t believe Melody had any medical skills.

Even if Ramon might be angry with her now, in the end, Ramon would know that she was right. Wasn’t this a win-win situation?

A good thing? The assistant looked at Astrid in astonishment, thinking she was confused from anger.

Astrid, however, didn’t bother to explain to her assistant, and with a group of people, she stormed toward Margaret’s room on the second floor.

She wanted to be the one who was sober while everyone else was drunk, but since she was going to act, she might as well act the whole part.

In Margaret’s room, Melody had already finalized the prescription for the second phase treatment and was about to start preparing the medicine when she heard a commotion of footsteps from outside.

She turned her head and just saw Astrid coming with the people who had previously wanted to take her to the police station.

Mom! Darling! Astrid said with an anxious face. How can you drive the doctors away? Do you really believe that a young girl’s medical skills could be better than those doctors?

Astrid confronted Ramon.

Ramon frowned. “Margaret’s blood has improved a lot. Ms. Fox said that Mom’s vomiting blood is expelling the toxins. She feels much better. Please don’t say anything to upset her.”

“Trust her?” Astrid glared at Melody. “Absolutely cannot trust her. Darling, come to your senses.”

Ramon now felt frustrated. “Margaret will be cured by Miss Fox. For now, you apologize to Miss Fox and then go.”

“Apologize to her? Impossible!” Astrid refused with a pale look on her face. “Since none of you believe me, I’ll keep quiet! But I hope you’ll come to your senses sooner rather than later, so as not to delay Margaret’s condition.”

With that, Astrid left, seething with anger. No one saw the sly smile replace her fury once she left the room. She thought, “Believe in Melody, and when Melody fails, I will be the daughter-in-law who saves the day.”

After leaving the room, Astrid asked a servant about Ulric’s whereabouts. The servant, very afraid of Astrid, quickly replied, “Mr. Ulric has gone to treat his leg injury.”

Astrid was taken aback and asked, “Didn’t he go out early in the morning? Why hasn’t he come back yet?”

“Useless thing! I’ll contact him myself!” Astrid scolded and took out her mobile phone.

Before she could dial, she saw Ulric being pushed in by the servant.

“You’re finally back!” Astrid suppressed her anger. “Margaret vomited blood today, and time may be running out. Why did you only come back now?”

Ulric’s face was unusually gloomy. “Talk in my room,” he said coldly.

After they reached his room, Astrid couldn’t hold back anymore. “Why do you look so upset? Was the treatment not smooth?”

Ulric smashed the cup in his hand. “Shut up! Was it you who told me not to treat my leg injury first? Now the doctor says there’s only a ten percent chance of recovery. Are you satisfied now?”

Astrid covered her mouth in horror. “Ten percent…”

“If my leg can’t recover, what will I compete with Ken? All because of your plan! You said that if I didn’t recover, it would make Dad and Grandma more sympathetic towards me and dislike Ken. Now, I’ve really become a cripple! Are you satisfied?”

Astrid’s face was complicated, and tears glistened in her eyes. “What I did back then was also for you… I didn’t know…”

“Easy for you to say!” Ulric closed his eyes in agitation. “God knows what I’ve been through today.”

He practiced rehabilitation movements for hours but couldn’t do well. That feeling was unbearable.

“Grandma vomited blood today, you said…”
