Danielle had no way out anymore. She could only bind herself tightly to Adriana. If Adriana ever decided to throw her aside out of revenge, she would fall straight back to the bottom.

“Well, look at that. You really came back to work like a servant? You think acting obedient now will make people trust someone with a history like yours?” Savannah had arrived. She looked at Danielle with open contempt, finding her current behavior absurd.

“Trying to start over? Please. Who do you think would believe that?” Savannah covered her mouth and laughed softly as she sat down across from Danielle. “I’m the client. Aren’t you going to pour me a glass of water?”

Danielle stood up with a dark expression and poured Savannah a glass of water.

Savannah leaned back in her chair across from Danielle, then suddenly flung the water straight into Danielle’s face.

Danielle sucked in a sharp breath and glared at Savannah in fury.

Savannah laughed. “So what now? Throw it back at me. Go ahead. The second you do, today’s deal is dead. Guess what Adriana will think then. Do you really believe anyone will think you came back to Barton Group to work honestly? They’ll just think you did t on purpose–that you deliberately sabotaged this deal.”

Danielle stood there and forced herself to endure it, holding it back until her eyes turned red.

Just as she was about to swallow the humiliation, a cup of water splashed straight across Savannah’s face.

Savannah screamed and jumped to her feet. She was just about to start cursing when she looked up and saw Adriana.

Adriana set the cup down on the table and smiled. “You were the one who asked to be splashed back. You are in my company, and you just threw waste at one of my employees. I think we need to reconsider our partnership seriously.”

Danielle froze for a second. She stared at Adriana, and it took her a long moment to come back to herself.

She had never expected Adriana to stand up for her.

Savannah shot a furious look at Adriana, wiping the water off her face as she struggled to her feet in a mess.

‘Adriana!”

‘You asked for it. Don’t blame anyone else,” Adriana said with a cold laugh, crossing her arms and stepping forward,

Savannah glared at her. “Fine. Very well, Adriana. I see you’ve forgotten something. Denton’s leverage is still in my hands. You’re really not afraid that-”

“Over a cup of water, you’re already willing to burn your ace up your sleeve?” Adriana interrupted calmly.

“That’s a bit dramatic, don’t you think? Once you throw that secret out, you’ve got no leverage left.”

Savannah’s expression twisted. She knew Adriana was right. She couldn’t afford to use that leverage too soon.

Her face darkened with rage. After a long pause, she finally said, “Fine. Then let’s talk about this deal. Barton Group won’t be working with you anymore.”

Adriana let out a light laugh at her outburst.

“Really? Are you the one calling the shots at Barton Group now?” she said coolly. “As far as I know, you’re just an ordinary employee there. The main decision–making power is in–Silas‘ hands. Do you really think he’ll listen to you?”
