Lyndon's jaw tightened. “Let's just say there's someone who might be ~ interested in her."
Sheldon's voice grew resolute. "I'd make sure he doesn't stand a chance!"
Lyndon's lips curved into a faint smile. "Good boy. Keep that in mind."
With that, Lyndon hung up.
On the other end of the line, Sheldon blinked his wide eyes, staring at the phone in confusion.
He thought to himself, "Did Dad have a rival in love? Is that what this is about? But. shouldn't he handle that himself?"
Before he could ponder further, the phone in his hand buzzed again.
Sheldon found it was Tilda calling. He immediately picked up the call.
"Mom."
Tilda's voice came through, warm yet tinged with surprise. "Sheldon? Why are you the one answering?"
Sheldon blinked, his expression a mix of innocence and maturity.
“What, aren't you happy to hear your son's voice?"
Tilda chuckled softly. “How could I not be? Hearing you always makes my day."
A smile tugged at Sheldon's lips.
"Tell Elma you won't be home for dinner," Tilda continued. "I'll come pick you up soon. We're going to Auntie's place for dinner."
Sheldon's eyes lit up. "Which Auntie?"
"Corrine," Tilda replied with amusement.
"Oh." Sheldon paused, his curiosity piqued. "Is she inviting anyone else?’
“She is, but I'm driving now, so we'll talk later. Be ready when I get home, okay?"
“Okay.”
As the call ended, Sheldon tilted his head in thought.
Who else could Corrine have invited?
His dad had called him earlier, and now his mom was mentioning guests at Corrine's. Could it all be connected?
Was this about his dad's rival?
