“Are you in such a hurry to leave because we have guests, or are you trying to keep an eye on Shari and Dilan?" Brian asked.

Rosalynn glanced at him with a knowing smile. “What do you think?"

“I'm not a mind reader," Brian replied, gently placing a hand on her rounded belly. “What do you think, babies?"

Rosalynn chuckled and nudged his hand away. “Can you stop being so clingy?"

"Fine."

With, that, Brian walked to the sink and began washing his hands.

After a pause, he said, "Now that Shari has just seen Dilan, she'll likely try to talk to him alone.”

Rosalynn raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Why?”

“Because we're being so warm toward Dilan. She's probably worried we might sway him and soften his resolve for revenge," Brian explained.

Rosalynn nodded thoughtfully. “So you think she'll keep egging him on?"

Brian finished washing his hands, drying them with a few paper towels.

He turned to her, a small smile tugging at his lips. “What do you think?"

“How would I know? I can't read her mind," Rosalynn shot back playfully.

Brian tossed the paper towels into the bin and walked over to her, pinching her cheek gently with an affectionate grin. “Always quick with the comeback."

Ignoring his teasing, Rosalynn said, "I'm curious to see how Dilan will react if Shari continues to mislead him."

Brian's smile faded slightly, replaced by a thoughtful expression.

“I'm curious too."

Given the resentment Dilan harbored toward them, who knows what Shari's misleading words could lead to? Would she push him far enough to harm them?

“By the way, Shari went to see your uncle yesterday. Wonder what she was up to," Rosalynn mentioned casually.

Brian's eyes narrowed, a flicker of coldness flashing in them. “Got it. Let's watch and see what their next move is."

Rosalynn nodded. "Okay."

By the time they left the bathroom, they found that Brendan had returned.

“Dad, you're back. Didn't you say you had a dinner engagement tonight and wouldn't be home?" Rosalynn asked, flashing him a bright smile.

Brendan replied, "Your mom mentioned we had special guests over, so I rescheduled the dinner."
