“Rosalynn." The voice on the other end cracked with emotion.
Rosalynn straightened, her heart quickening. “Rainie? Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me." Rainie's voice trembled, her words coming in short, desperate bursts.
Why was she crying?
Rosalynn's stomach twisted with unease. "Rainie, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" she asked.
“They.. they're going to take my brother to the police station. They're accusing him of assaulting my classmate," Rainie sobbed, each word slicing through Rosalynn's calm.
What?!
Dilan was causing trouble again!
Just yesterday, she and Brian had quietly congratulated him for staying out of trouble. And now this.
Suppressing a rising tide of frustration, Rosalynn swung her legs off the bed, her feet hitting the floor with a soft thud.
“Rainie, tell me exactly what happened, Where is Dilan now?"
“He's at my school," Rainie replied, her voice strained.
Rosalynn's brow furrowed, "Why is he at your school?"
“They were bullying me," Rainie explained, her words tumbling over one another. “A close friend couldn't take it anymore, so she secretly called Dilan. He came straight away. He was so angry-he taught them a lesson, And now the school wants to expel me and send Dilan to the police. Rosalynn, I don't know what to do. Can you help him?"
Rainie's voice broke.
Rosalynn closed her eyes for a moment, her mind racing as she pieced together the fragmented story.
She was still uncertain of the details, but it was clear Dilan was trying to defend his sister.
“Don't worry, Rainie,” Rosalynn said, her voice calm yet firm.
"Be there as soon as I can. We'll sort this out.”
“But, Rosalynn, it's not Dilan's fault, Please help him," Rainie begged.
“Trust me, I won't let him suffer an unjust accusation, I promise,"
Rosalynn reassured her, before ending the call.
She took a deep breath and quickly dialed Brian.
“Brian, Dilan's in a bit of trouble and needs help," she said, her voice clipped with urgency.
