And most of all, who was the woman with Sanford now?
Just as these thoughts swirled in Maggie's mind, the screen of her computer lit up.
A soft, melodic chime accompanied the message that popped up: "Hey, beautiful. How's your day going?"
In the quiet office, Maggie was jolted from her thoughts when her computer suddenly powered up by itself.
It was an odd occurrence, one she couldn't quite explain. Her mind had been elsewhere, Lost in her own world when the glitch caught her completely off guard.
She jumped from her chair in a panic, her leg slamming into the edge of the desk. A sharp pain shot up her calf.
Wincing, Maggie rubbed her sore leg as her eyes darted to the screen.
The text that had been there disappeared, replaced by an adorable cartoon bear holding a flower, waving at her cheerfully.
"Well, that's cute," Maggie thought, feeling the initial rush of panic fade and a small smile tug at her lips.
But soon, suspicion crept in.
"This has to be some kind of hacker prank," she mused.
Karl immediately came to mind. Maggie snickered to herself. It had to be him.
Grabbing her phone, she snapped a photo of the screen and quickly sent it to Karl with a message. "Hey, is this your doing?"
The bear, still holding its flower, waved once more before a new message appeared on the screen.
"Yeah, it's me. Did I scare you?"
"Of course you did!"
Maggie typed back with a grin.
"At first, I was freaked out, but now it's kinda fun. Lucky it's daytime, or I might've had a heart attack!"
The bear made a dramatic face of guilt before typing back. "Forgive me! I'm just*trying to brighten your day, but it seems I've failed."
Maggie chuckled out loud.
He managed to make her laugh, which indicated that he had succeeded in his goals.
Suddenly, a knock at the door pulled her attention away.
"Angie, your delivery's here."
"Delivery?" Maggie blinked, confused. She hadn't ordered anything.
