The video cut off just as Maggie was about to make Carolyn apologize.
Curious, Sanford messaged Rosalynn, "Is there more to it? Did Carolyn end up apologizing?"
"Of course she did. I wouldn't have Carolyn walk away after her insult to Maggie," Rosalynn replied.
Well, that was true.
With Rosalynn by Maggie's side, Sanford knew there was nothing to worry about.
A smile crossed his face as another message from Rosalynn popped up.
"Maggie can be pretty fierce when she wants to be. You better take good care of her, and don't you dare mistreat her.
Sanford grinned and typed back, "If you're saying she's fierce, what makes you think I'd dare mistreat her? That'd be asking for trouble."
Reading his response, Rosalynn let out a soft chuckle. She could finally head home with peace of mind.
One drama had been resolved, though she knew the evening would bring its own share of excitement.
Back ‘at the Robles family estate, Sanford replayed the video, admiring how Maggie had handled Carolyn.
A mixture of pride and nostalgia washed over him-Maggie had truly come into her own. Would she soon outgrow the need for his protection?
The thought brought a bittersweet pang to his heart, but joy quickly overshadowed it.
After all, his mother had finally accepted her! Now, he and Maggie could begin their new life together.
Sanford stared at his motionless legs, a familiar frustration washing over him. He yearned for his body to heal faster—to walk down the aisle at their perfect wedding, and someday, to cradle their future child.
In the backseat of the car, Maggie sat silently, her thoughts interrupted by concern for her feline passenger. She carefully unzipped the bag, letting in a sliver of fresh air.
A soft meow echoed from within.
Janiya turned at the sound, her eyebrows raised. "You're keeping a cat?"
Maggie explained quickly, "It's not my cat. It belongs to someone else. I'm just looking after it for a few days."
Too exhausted from recent worries to inquire further, Janiya simply leaned back, her eyes drifting closed.
Maggie's attention returned to the cat in her lap, but her mind wandered to Karl. Her expression darkened momentarily.
Just when Janiya had finally started accepting her, she prayed Karl wouldn't throw everything into chaos again.
After more than two hours on the road, they finally pulled up to the sprawling Robles estate.
"We're home, Mrs. Robles," Maggie gently said.
