But as another gunshot echoed from the movie, the sharp sound jolted his mind back to clarity.
Keanu pulled back abruptly, his gaze flickering with a mix of emotions.
Both of them were slightly breathless.
Corrine, her lips still rosy, leaned a little closer to him, her voice soft and teasing. "Well, what do you think?"
Keanu's body tensed again as the memory of his earlier actions replayed in his mind, sending a wave of discomfort coursing through him.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to.."
"I'm the one who initiated the kiss, so if anyone should be apologizing, it's me, Corrine interjected, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But from the looks of it, you didn't seem to mind the kiss, did you?"
Keanu felt as if he were standing too close to an open flame, the heat searing through his body.
Noticing a few people in the theater room glances their way, he cleared his throat and dropped his voice. "Let's just watch the movie."
Corrine's lips curved into a satisfied smile, her eyes gleaming with amusement. She chose to leave it at that—she had already achieved what she was after.
Keanu had felt the warmth of her lips today. How much longer could he withstand the undeniable pull drawing him closer?
Her gaze drifted over her shoulder toward Lyndon and Tilda.
By now, the two had finished their kiss, and Tilda was leaning comfortably against Lyndon, her eyes fixed on Corrine.
Corrine met her cousin's stare with a playful wink, then straightened her posture to focus on the movie.
Tilda's cheeks flushed a deep pink, though she wasn't sure whether it was from her own kiss or from witnessing the bold display between her cousin and Keanu.
Corrine was fearless! She had already captured a kiss from Keanu in record time.
Tilda couldn't help but feel a pang of admiration.
An hour and a half later, the movie drew to a close, and the four of them slowly made their way out of the theater.
"Tilda, are you guys grabbing a late-night snack?" Corrine asked, checking her watch.
Tilda, who had been munching on popcorn and sipping soda throughout the movie, felt too full to eat anything else.
But she could tell Corrine wanted more time with Keanu, so she didn't decline outright.
Keanu, however, spoke up first.
"It's getting late, and I've got work early tomorrow. You guys go ahead, I'm heading out," he said, giving them a quick wave as he flagged down a taxi.
Corrine blinked in surprise, momentarily thrown off. "Wait, don't go! I can give you a ride home later!"
