"Finding a decent guy is like searching for a diamond in a coal mine," Valeria sighed.
Tilda turned to face Valeria, a thoughtful expression crossing her features. "I think there are quite a few worthy men out there. Consider Rosalynn's husband, Karina's boyfriend, Maggie's boyfriend, and..." she hesitated before adding, “your ex-husband. They've all proven their sincerity in relationships. I'd consider them good men."
Valeria's composed expression wavered at the unexpected mention of her ex.
"Tilda, what makes you bring up Hutton?" Her voice carried a hint of tension. "How exactly does he qualify as a good man?"
A knowing smile played across Tilda's lips. "Valeria, weren't you his first love?"
Valeria maintained her carefully neutral expression. "I don't know," she replied, her tone deliberately casual.
"He told me himself — said you were his first love," Tilda pressed gently.
Valeria's eyebrow arched sharply, suspicion etched across her features. "You're in contact with him?"
"Yep." Tilda's smile widened as she continued, "There's something I haven't shared with you before. Hutton was actually the one who noticed Rita's suspicious behavior and told me about it. Without his intervention, my marriage could have crumbled because of Rita."
Surprise flickered across Valeria's face, her eyes widening.
"Really?"
"Yes." Encouraged, Tilda continued her praise of Hutton. "Throughout this time, he's been quietly checking in about you, asking me to ensure you're well-treated on set and protected from any mistreatment."
Valeria let out a derisive laugh. "Who asked him to do that? As if I care about his concern."
"Valeria," Tilda said softly. "Hutton has never stopped thinking about you. He acknowledges his mistakes. You just mentioned that devoted men deserve trust — couldn't you consider giving him another chance?"
Memories of their brief marriage and lost child flooded Valeria's mind, causing her to shake her head firmly.
"It's impossible for us to reconcile."
"Why not?" Tilda persisted. "Hutton is genuinely good- hearted, and his feelings for you remain unchanged."
Valeria fell silent for a moment before responding. "The complications between us can't be simplified into a few sentences."
"Then take time to discuss them properly," Tilda suggested. "You just need to give him the opportunity to speak with you."
Valeria fixed her gaze on Tilda. "Tell me honestly — how much did he pay you to be his advocate?"
Tilda burst into laughter. "Valeria, do you really think I'd compromise my principles for money? I genuinely believe your ex-husband is worthy of consideration."
Valeria rolled her eyes dramatically. "Come on, you've played the role of matchmaker once before. Now please stop meddling! My next scene is about to begin, and I need to refresh my makeup."
As Valeria strode away, Tilda blinked in confusion.
When had she played matchmaker?
