Tilda hummed in agreement and took a sip of water. This time, Rosie had truly landed herself in deep trouble.
Yet, in this scenario, Rosie was just a puppet manipulated by Rita. Tilda hoped that Rosie would turn on Rita, leading to legal consequences for her as well.
Still, she couldn't shake the feeling that Rita wouldn't be reckless enough to leave behind any evidence that could tie her to it.
In the CEO's office, Rita and Casper had just finished their meal. She was now cleaning up the kitchen, eager to demonstrate her skills in homemaking.
At that moment, Rita's phone rang with a call from Rosie.
She hadn't come across Corrine's post yet, so when she saw Rosie's call, she felt a sense of satisfaction, thinking that Rosie had stood up for her.
Rita picked up the phone and said, "Rosie, what's up?" "Rita, you have to help me. Please save me!" Rosie's voice was frantic over the phone.
Startled, Rita asked, "What happened?"
"The police have summoned me. They're accusing me of defamation and intentional harm, and I need to report to the station immediately!" Rosie explained in distress.
Puzzled, Rita responded, "Why would that happen?"
"It's got to be because of the post I made," Rosie explained hastily. "Rita, please! You have to help me. I did this to get revenge for you. I don't want to end up in jail!"
Rita's face changed as she quickly shifted her stance, saying, "Rosie, I never instructed you to do that! I warned you from the start not to engage with them, but you didn't listen! Now that things have escalated, there's nothing I can do to assist you."
"Rita, please talk to Corrine. If she doesn't press charges, I won't go to jail. I really did this for you..."
The phone line beeped.
Then there was a busy signal.
Each beep felt like a strike against Rita's heart.
She clutched her phone, a wave of panic washing over her. How did Rosie get caught so suddenly?
Was it the post she made that led Corrine to report her?
But what solid evidence could Corrine possibly have against Rosie?
Then, Rita noticed the trending news on the social platform. She quickly clicked on it to get the full story.
It turned out Corrine had compiled significant evidence before pressing charges against Rosie.
Rita's throat tightened as she read the news, and she struggled to swallow.
Luckily, she had never explicitly instructed Rosie to get revenge for her; otherwise, she would have been implicated as the mastermind behind the scenes.
What a fool! How could Rosie be so careless as to leave a digital trail by transferring money to the escort?
She should have used cash.
That way, even if that woman claimed Rosie had directed her, without Rosie's admission, there was no proof.
Rita was deeply upset by Rosie's foolishness. But then again, someone that foolish had no value to her.
Rosie's short-sightedness would only bring more trouble if she stayed involved.
It was better to let her stay out of the way.
After calming herself, Rita put her phone away, finished cleaning the kitchen, and left the room.
Right then, Lyndon was settled into the executive chair, flipping through a stack of documents with focused attention.
He sat straight and authoritative, the warm yellow light casting a solemn yet distant glow around him.
Rita's gaze softened with admiration, and she gently asked, "Lyndon, would you like a cup of coffee?"
"Out," Lyndon responded, his tone indifferent, without lifting his eyes from his work.
Rita bit her lip and said, "Can't you be a bit warmer? I mean no harm. I just wish to show my gratitude."
Lyndon paused, glancing up briefly. "Rita, the only reason you're standing here is because of Casper. I suggest you don't go out of your way to create tension between him and my wife. If I discover that you're using Casper to cause problems, you'll regret that decision more than you can imagine!"
