She resigned?
What a convenient coincidence.
Of all times, why now?
Was embarrassment truly why she left?
Reggie's expression soured even more. "Admired me? Now I'm the headline in a scandal. Tell me-does that sound like admiration or sabotage?"
The supplier gave a nervous laugh. "Come on, things like this happen. You know how it is—one night out, a little drama. Give it a few days; it'll blow over." Reggie sighed heavily and hung up without another word.
But his instincts told him something was off. The woman quit right after the incident...
She wasn't anyone he knew personally; why would she go that far?
At Fernandez Group, Lyndon had just ended a call.
A faint smile played at the corners of his mouth as he walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, hands casually in his pockets. He gazed out at the city below, relaxed and satisfied.
Yes—he had bribed the woman to set Reggie up.
Reggie had pushed his limits for far too long. Always hovering around Tilda, ignoring boundaries.
It was time someone gave him a wake-up call.
He needed a reminder that pursuing a married woman came with consequences.
Now, every time Reggie looked back on that humiliating night, hopefully, he'd associate it with shame. With regret. And, more importantly, he'd never look at Tilda the same way again.
A wicked grin spread across Lyndon's face.
Still, he figured he owed the guy something. After all, he did ruin his reputation for a while.
Maybe in a few days, he'd introduce Reggie to someone decent -someone from a good family. A woman who could actually make Reggie settle down.
Reggie, of course, had no idea he'd been played by Lyndon.
But not long after, a friend introduced him to a young woman with a similar background-petite, bubbly, with a bright smile and a lighthearted personality. To his own surprise, Reggie hit it off with her.
The relationship moved quickly. Within a few months, they were engaged.
When Lyndon heard the news, his mood lifted even more.
Naturally—he was the one who'd pulled the strings behind the scenes again.
He'd asked a mutual acquaintance to set the two up, confident he knew exactly what kind of woman would catch Reggie's eye.
