"It's not much information," she said, "just a photo of my brother from when he went missing, and some reports from the area, the station, and the train station."
"I've kept an eye out for missing persons reports in the area over the years, but I haven't found anything similar," Edward sighed.
After all these years, there was no news. Either he was dead, or he was sold off to a place far away.
With the police force and investigation methods of ten years ago, both were possible.
He was more inclined to believe he was still alive.
A three-year-old boy, essentially raised, and unable to remember anything. He was the ideal child for buyers.
Only, it was hard to find him.
It was hard to find, but Daniela would still find a way.
"Edward, give me these documents."
Seeing her determination, Edward wanted to dissuade her, "Daniela, it's been eighteen years..."
Daniela interrupted him, "Edward, my mom woke up."
Edward's eyes widened slightly.
He knew about Renata's condition. The once gentle and intellectual woman had been driven mad by the disappearance of her son.
She hadn't reacted to the outside world for all these years.
Didn't they say she was unlikely to recover? How did she suddenly wake up?
"I have a senior from my university who came back from studying abroad. He bought some advanced medicine from overseas for me. She's been taking it for a while."
"The last time she woke up, my mom was able to talk to me."
Speaking of this, Daniela was more confident.
"Technology is advanced now, my mom can get better, maybe there's a way to find my brother. I have to try."
Edward felt that Daniela's news was very encouraging and said happily, "You're right."
"Let me ask around the police station to see if there's any advanced technology that can be used."
Official methods are always more advanced than civilian ones.
Daniela thanked him. Seeing that it was almost time, she said, "Edward, would you ask your wife Zona to join us for lunch?"
"Sure, I'll call her back. You've come to visit, let's take you to J Town for some authentic beef."
Daniela had come to visit a few times every year, and was already quite familiar with the Li family. They decided to have lunch at a small restaurant, the environment was not very good.
Sebastian wouldn't take a step inside if he were here.
Daniela was taken aback, wondering why Sebastian suddenly came to mind. She quickly shook her head and walked in.
As soon as they entered, a young man in school uniform waved to Daniela, "Daniela, over here."
It was Edward's son, Gavin. He was in his second year of high school and had a heavy workload.
"Why aren't you in school? How do you have time to eat out?"
Gavin looked at her with a resentful expression.
Daniela was taken aback, and then Zona's loud voice rang out beside her, "This kid, he's just lazy and doesn't study."
She had gone to send lunch to Gavin at noon, but the kid heard that Daniela was coming and wouldn't eat his lunch. He insisted on coming out.
If she didn't let him come, he would say that she was abusing him, not bringing him out to eat good food.
He wasn't afraid to lose face in front of the school gate.
Daniela laughed, "He's growing up and his studies are heavy, he should eat well."
Gavin cooperated, "Yeah, Mom, you don't know, my classmates, they're not full after eating at school, they have to climb over the wall to eat again, otherwise they can't eat enough."
As soon as he finished speaking, Zona twisted his ear, "Good for you, Gavin, you're quite the guy, you even learned how to climb over walls?"
Gavin pleaded for mercy.
Daniela smiled and stopped her, "Zona, let's eat."
She then said to Gavin, "Climbing over walls is against the rules, don't do it again. If you don't have enough to eat, I'll send you some cooked meat."
The group chatted as they ate.
Edward answered a phone call and said to Daniela, "Someone at the police station found a village in E Town. They said there were some people who were trafficked there. Do you want to go have a look?"
