"Daniela, why are you selling off Flores Group shares?"

Diego's low voice came through the phone, tinged with a hint of displeasure.

Daniela chuckled softly. "I need money."

Diego fell silent for a moment. "You could ask me for money if you need it. Why sell stocks?"

"With Flores Group's current development trajectory, a 20% stake will bring you tens of millions in dividends next year. Isn't that enough for you?"

The stock market was in a bit of a slump today, largely due to Daniela's intention to sell her shares.

Daniela scoffed. "Do you even believe what you're saying?"

He wouldn't even pay for her college tuition, let alone give her dividends.

Heh.

"Just say what you have to say. Don't hold up my stock sale."

Diego held back his anger, speaking in a low voice. "You can't sell your shares."

"That's ridiculous. It's my property, I can sell it if I want." Daniela wouldn't give him the satisfaction. "There are plenty of people who want to buy these shares. It seems you've done a pretty good job managing Flores Group these past few years."

Despite the compliment, Diego wasn't happy. His voice remained low. "Who wants to buy?"

"Do you think I'm going to tell you?" Daniela chuckled again. "Nothing else? I'm hanging up."

"Wait," Diego hurriedly interjected. "Don't forget, when I gave you these shares, we agreed that if you wanted to sell, you had to sell them to me!"

Daniela was astonished by his audacity. "We agreed you had the right of first refusal. Nowhere did it say I had to sell to you."

"Regardless, you have to give me the first offer for your shares."

Daniela snorted. "Fine, make an offer. Less than six hundred million, and I'll find someone else."

Diego frowned.

Six hundred million?

Was Daniela trying to rob him blind?

Flores Group had only been listed for two months. No matter how much the stock price had risen, it couldn't have skyrocketed this much.

"Right now, all I can manage is one hundred million…"

Daniela slammed the phone down.

One hundred million?

Did she think she was dealing with a fool?

Diego stared at the disconnected call, finally losing his patience. He slammed the phone against the wall with a resounding "bang."

That ungrateful daughter!

Stanley, hearing the commotion, hurriedly pushed the door open.

He glanced at the phone lying shattered on the floor, then at Diego's grim expression. He sighed silently.

As he reached out to massage Diego's shoulders, he softly asked, "Daniela disagreed?"

Diego let out a long sigh.

"She wouldn't even let me finish what I was saying!"

"One hundred million is all I can scrape together right now. It's not like that's all I'm offering her."

Stanley pursed his lips. "You're her father, after all. She should give you that much respect. Could it be that she needs more than one hundred million?"

Diego scoffed. "What could she possibly need money for?"

Daniela was alone. Where would she need so much money?

Besides, Sebastian was still pursuing her. If she really needed money, wouldn't Sebastian help?

Why would she need to sell shares?

Diego thought and thought, but he could only conclude that Daniela was selling her shares to spite him.

Flores Group had just calmed down. Daniela's actions had set the shareholders buzzing again. How could he possibly relax?

Stanley gently placed his hand on Diego's temple and began to massage it.

"Don't get angry yet."

"Her getting angry at you is actually a good thing."

Diego frowned.

Stanley smiled slyly. "They say that children make a fuss to get their parents' attention. I think that since she doesn't need the money, but she's still causing all this trouble, it's just her way of getting your attention."

Diego shook his head slightly. "Impossible."

Daniela was inherently cold-hearted and had never shown any affection towards him. How could she possibly be trying to get his attention?

Stanley said, "Maybe you misunderstand her. Everyone craves affection."

In the past, she had a husband and a mother. Now she has nothing.

All alone, a girl in her situation, wouldn't she naturally seek out the most reliable father figure?

Diego narrowed his eyes.
