“What did you say?!”
Although she had expected it, Daniela still jumped to her feet in surprise when Martina said that.
Mike, fearing she might hurt herself, quickly stepped forward and held her steady.
Daniela just stared at Martina, her eyes fixed on her.
As if genuinely provoked, Martina, at this point, didn't care about anything, laughing as she said, "It's Renata's fault for being useless! She just lost a child, and she's making a big deal out of it, even getting depressed."
"Diego would be so annoyed every time he came home and saw her crying."
"They just argued all the time. Argued and argued."
"I kept telling Diego that Renata was just being too sensitive. It's not like she was the only one to lose a child. Why was she making a fuss? She could just have another one."
"One day, they were arguing again, and Diego said those words out loud. Renata, I don't know what triggered her, but she jumped at him and bit him."
"You know what Diego told me later?"
"He said Renata was crazy!" Martina couldn't control herself and burst into laughter, "Crazy! Hahahaha!"
She laughed and coughed uncontrollably, her laughter turning into a hacking cough.
Daniela's face was grim, she looked at Martina coldly, without saying anything.
After a long while, Martina finally calmed down and continued, "Crazy is good. As long as she's crazy, Diego can divorce her. Then I'll have my chance, right?"
"So Diego started looking around, and finally found a drug."
"What drug?" Daniela finally spoke.
She vaguely felt this might be the forbidden drug the court mentioned, the one Diego claimed Renata had taken.
It was ridiculous that Diego dared to say it was Renata who took it.
Martina rolled her eyes at Daniela, "How would I know? Do you think Diego would tell me?"
Daniela pursed her lips.
Diego wouldn't tell Martina this, that was for sure. But they had been together for a long time, and they might have accidentally seen something together.
Before Daniela could think further, Martina continued, "That drug really worked. Renata went crazy after taking it for a few days, smashing things around the house, even almost hurting Diego's mom."
"That old woman hated Renata anyway, so she pressured Diego to divorce Renata."
"Of course, I played a role in this too. All I had to do was put Andres in front of her, and she would immediately lose it."
Daniela's heart felt like it was being squeezed.
She had vague memories of what Martina was talking about.
But she was young back then, and Diego told her that her mother was so worried about not finding her brother that she went crazy.
She was filled with guilt and sadness back then.
But she didn't know the dirty truth behind it all.
"Sadly, Diego didn't listen to his mom, he held on for a long time, until Renata went completely crazy, and then he finally went for the divorce."
Martina looked at Daniela with a mischievous smile, "You know why Diego waited so long to get divorced?"
"Because he wanted to transfer his assets," Daniela said coldly.
By then, Daniela had grown up, and Diego couldn't fool her anymore.
Daniela knew what the Flores Family was like before Renata married into it, just by looking at others in the village.
And in just ten years, the Flores Family had accumulated a fortune. Half of it was due to Renata's efforts.
If Renata hadn't gone crazy, how could Diego easily move the assets?
After moving everything, Diego went ahead and divorced her.
