Antonia's entourage had disappeared. She stood there, seemingly waiting for someone. Daniela had no interest in chatting with her, and was about to walk past pretending not to see her, but Antonia blocked her path.
Antonia looked Daniela up and down, her eyes full of disbelief.
"I never thought you had any real skill. You managed to get a gig at such a big event at City Hall."
She had used Chu Haochuan's identity to get acquainted with quite a few leaders.
These people had all been praising the embroidered painting.
But that painting was done by Daniela alone.
Daniela glanced at her, not bothering to respond to her sarcasm.
Antonia chuckled, "Daniela, don't treat me like the enemy. You're carrying Sebastian's child. Whether you admit it or not, he's my grandson. In the future, I will inevitably have contact with him. You have no reason to refuse the child's grandmother from seeing him, right?"
"Since contact is inevitable, why make things so tense?"
Daniela couldn't help but laugh, "Did I make things tense?"
"Dare you say that you weren't being intentional back at the venue?"
Intentionally saying vague things in front of those people, putting her down, and smearing her.
All for the satisfaction of her own petty heart.
Daniela had been deliberately letting her off easy, only not slapping her for the sake of the child.
"Daniela, you've really misunderstood me," Antonia said. "I was just being nice, wanting to introduce you to them."
"You know, those people are all in the political sphere. It could be a good way to expand the Romero Family's connections in the political world."
"Besides, you're now working for the government," Antonia lifted her chin slightly. "The newly appointed Deputy Mayor is a friend of mine. I can put in a good word for you."
Daniela would have to burn incense if Antonia wasn't stabbing her in the back.
In any case, Daniela didn't believe a word Antonia said.
Daniela checked the time on her phone and said coolly, "Then thank you, Mrs. Romero. But I'm just an artist, no need to trouble Mayor Chu. I won't trouble Mrs. Romero."
As she spoke, she turned to Mike, "Why hasn't the car come yet? Can you hurry it up?"
Their car was parked in the underground parking lot of the television station, a bit far away.
Upon hearing this, Mike immediately stepped forward to see if a car was coming.
Antonia's eyebrows furrowed slightly, just as she was about to speak, an electric scooter suddenly emerged from the side, speeding towards them.
Antonia was startled and instinctively dodged.
The electric scooter swerved past her, straight towards Daniela.
There was a bit of distance between Antonia and Daniela, so she could have warned Daniela, but for some reason, her voice got stuck in her throat, and she couldn't utter a sound.
When Daniela realized the electric scooter was charging at her, it was too late to dodge.
The electric scooter was already in front of her.
The driver's sinister smile was directly in her line of sight.
In that instant, Daniela's only thought was to protect the child in her belly.
She covered her stomach with her hand, closing her eyes, waiting for the final judgment.
The next moment, Daniela felt a tremendous force on her shoulder, almost pulling her arm off.
Daniela's heavy body was pulled away from the spot by the force.
It seemed like she flew through the air for a moment.
In the end, she didn't fall to the ground, but landed safely in a warm embrace.
A heavy groan could be heard near her ear, like a sound of pain endured after being hit by an electric scooter.
Daniela was stunned, then her ears were shocked by a loud "bang".
It took her a while to recover.
After an unknown amount of time, a worried voice came from Daniela's ear, "Daniela, are you okay?"
