Chapter 593

But this was the Russell family of Seldvale. Their bodyguards and subordinates were terrifyingly numerous, and intimidatingly positioned! How were they going to manage this? They might as well lie down and accept the consequences!

Scarlet tugged at Felicia, urging, “Life is precious. Let’s turn back. Getting beaten to death here would be too shameful.”

Felicia ignored her and walked directly toward the imposing iron gates. The Russell residence was heavily secured, with guards at every corner and pervasive surveillance. As she approached, the gates slowly creaked open, and two well-trained guards stepped out.

Scarlet tensed, assuming a defensive stance. She braced for a fight. However, the guards immediately bowed respectfully, greeting Felicia, “Good day, Mrs. Russell!”

Scarlet was speechless. Raising an eyebrow, her tense posture relaxed. She followed suit, asking, “Mrs. Russell, are you returning home?”

Felicia shot her a sideward glance and quickly looked away. She addressed the guards, “I want to see Stephan.”

The guards hesitated, unsure how to respond. Just then, several physicians emerged, discussing something amongst themselves. One said, “With Mr. Russell’s passing, the Russell family, and Seldvale itself, are about to change.” Another added, “It’s a pity. Mr. Russell was so badly poisoned at such a young age. He’s beyond saving…”

The physicians entered a car, their conversation fading. Catching key words, Felicia’s expression changed. She turned to the guards and demanded, “What exactly happened? Tell me!”

Their eyes reddened. They had been instructed to keep the news from Felicia, who was in Khogend. But now, having overheard the physicians, they couldn’t hide it. They spoke candidly, “Ma’am, go see Mr. Russell. He’s been badly poisoned. He may not make it.”

Felicia didn’t know how she reached Stephan’s bedroom door. Her mind was consumed by their words: “He’s been badly poisoned. He may not make it.” She pressed her hand to her chest, feeling a deep, cold emptiness. Numbness and pain warred within her.

Only one thought drove her: she had to see him. She had to save him! Even if powerless, she had to see him one last time!

With a determined glint in her eyes, she was about to open the door when it swung open from the inside. It was Stanley.

“Ma’am?” Stanley’s voice, high-pitched with shock, "Ma'am! You… How did you get here?"

Felicia didn’t respond, pushing past him inside. Stanley didn’t stop her, closing the door behind them, leaving the guards and Scarlet outside.

Scarlet felt anxious. She was Felicia’s bodyguard, hired to be constantly at her side. But now… If she left her side for an hour or a night, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?
