Alexander's POV

"Where the hell have you been?" Angelica yelled angrily at me as I entered the room. I rolled my eyes, internally burning, to ask her the same question.

"Out for my morning jog," I replied, heading to the bathroom.

Angelica muttered something unintelligent behind me as I closed the door, and moments later I heard her leave.

I sighed relievedly, opened the shower tap, stripped myself of my clothes, and got into the shower.

Luke brought and lent me some of his clothes; he knew I slipped out last night. He covered for me during the night should anyone look for me.

I shook my head as I picked up the shampoo bottle, and an embarrassed smile moved to the corners of my lips.

I had to climb through Emily's bedroom window like a teenage boy, scared that his girlfriend's father would catch him sleeping over.

Luke waited for me at the forest edge with the clothes; a wide smile spread on his lips.

"I assume the young Alpha returned earlier than expected." He teased.

"And ran into the room while we were on the job," I said, feeling my face heat up.

Luke burst out laughing, riding my embarrassment.

"I can imagine how that went off," he said, between laughter.

"It is not funny," I replied as my mind shifted back to what had happened minutes ago.

I wasn't sure how any of us were going to explain this to Lex, and a nervous giggle erupted from inside me.

"Mommy, mommy!" Lex's young voice filled the room. "Are you in there?"

Emily looked at me wide-eyed and shifted the sheet to cover herself as she tried to get off me, but Lex came around and started climbing on the bed, making Emily freeze on top of me.

I grabbed Emily's huge continental pillow and stuffed it between us, trying to cover my naked body and face.

"Hi, baby," Emily said nervously. "You are back early. Is there something wrong?"

Lex shook his head.

"I wanted to see you before training, mommy," Lex said.

"Oh," Emily said, her face now really flustered. "Is there something you need to ask?"

Lex nodded, bouncing happily on the side of the bed.

"Sasha said Alpha Alex is here for training as well," he said. "Can I go see him?"

Emily reached out and stroked his little face.

"I don't think he would mind," she said. "I'll ask Sasha to take you to see him a bit later."

"Yay!" Lex yelled, jumping off the bed and running out of the room.

Emily chuckled, embarrassed, as she got off the bed to close the door.

She carefully lifted the pillow, seeing my flustered face.

"Do you think he knows?" I asked, worried.

Emily shrugged.

"I don't know. If he does," she said, taking a seat next to me on the bed. "He will ask us about it when he is ready."

"I hope he doesn't," I said. "What the hell do I say to him?"

Emily giggled, shaking her head. I guess she noticed that I was very unfamiliar with children.

"Just tell him that you love me," she simply said. "I think he will understand."

My bedroom door suddenly opened, and my gaze snapped in the direction of the sound, clearing the embarrassing moment from my thoughts.

"Alpha," Luke's voice filled the room.

"In the shower," I called back. "I'll be right out."

I closed the shower tap, growled at myself for not taking my towel, and headed to the door.

I opened the door and peeked my head out, seeing Luke lifting my towel on his index finger.

"When will you ever learn?" He asked, throwing the towel in my direction.

"Probably never," I said, wrapping the towel around my waist. "You were looking for me?"

"Training starts in an hour," he said. "Will we be grabbing breakfast before or after?"

"I guess before," I said. "I am starving..."

Luke chuckled, and my gaze snapped to him.

"Don't you start!" I warned him.

"Well, Alpha," he said, lifting a taunting eyebrow. "I would be hungry as well if I had burned all those calories like you did last night."

I ignored Luke and went to get dressed. I didn't bring much, just the bare necessities. I didn't see any need to overpack.

My gaze landed on Angelica's suitcases; she had four.

I sighed, annoyed, pulled my hands through my hair, and headed to the door.

"Morning, son," my father said when I closed the door behind me. "Did you have a good night's rest?"

Luke chuckled next to me, and I gave him a death glare.

My father's gaze moved between Luke and me, and he narrowed his eyes suspiciously at me.

"Morning, Father," I said. "I got some decent sleep in for once."

"That's wonderful," he said, stepping closer and placing his hand on my shoulder. "So you will be fresh and ready for today's training."

We headed down the hallway toward the dining area.

"I guess so," I said. "I'm just not sure what they want to teach us."

"We'll find out soon enough," he said as we entered the dining room area.

The place was packed with hungry wolves waiting patiently for their food. We found a table close to a window and took a seat.

"Where's Luna?" Luke asked. "Is she okay?"

"She's fine," my father replied. "Emily has an early session with the she-wolves."

That's maybe why Angelica left when I got into the shower, and I suddenly wondered how that was going.

"I hope Emily makes her exhausted," Ghost huffed. "I can't wait to be in my mate's arms!"

"Hold your horses," I said. "We have things to do tonight."

"Like what?" Ghost asked.

"Finding out what Axel is up to," I replied.

That reminded me that I wanted to ask my father about Axel.

"Coffee?" A small, pitied, dark-headed omega asked, standing closer with a trolley packed with different kinds of refreshments.

"Just a cup of coffee will do," I told her, handing her my mug.

"Breakfast will be served soon," she continued while pouring my beverage. "In the meantime, you are welcome to help yourselves to some freshly pressed juices, cereal, cheese, cold cuts, and fruits if you are interested."

I nodded, and she went to my father's and Luke's sides, offering them the same.

When the omega eventually left our table, I turned to my father.

"I have something important to discuss," I said.

"Very well," he said, shifting forward in his seat. "Is it about Emily?"

"Yes and no," I said, switching over to the mind link.

"What's so important that you would rather link to me than discuss it openly?" He asked.

"We..." I started.

"Who are we?" He asked, cutting me off.

"Emily and I," I linked. "We saw Axel and Angelica together last night."

My father flinched upon hearing the information.

"That's news," he said. "I didn't expect that."

"Yeah, well," I continued. "I should have suspected that."

"What did they discuss?" he asked.

"How much he hates me," I replied. "And that he claims to be the rightful Alpha of the Opal Pack."

I watched my father's face carefully, and what he said next surprised me.
