Debra's POV:
The voice resonated, achingly familiar, drawing my attention away from the chaos of the halted wedding.
As my gaze met the disruptor's face, my pupils constricted, a surge of shock freezing me in place.
It was Luis, the elusive figure who vanished after the prison break, standing before us, brazenly crashing the ceremony.
Ivy's voice trembled with unease as she blurted out, "What's that old fox up to now? Stay alert, Debra!"
Confusion clouded my thoughts.
Despite Caleb's relentless pursuit, Luis remained elusive, evading every attempt to locate him.
And yet, here he was, making a grand entrance at the most inopportune moment; a grand wedding. It boded ill.
What was his agenda?
Adding to the intrigue, I noticed Scott, a Roz Town resident who had previously spied on Riley and me, trailing behind Luis. The connection between them baffled me.
Why would Scott associate with Luis in this disruptive narrative?
Examining their expressions-Scott's inscrutable visage juxtaposed with Luis' smugness-a foreboding sensation gnawed at me.
Before I could discern their intentions, Luis pointed an accusatory finger in my direction, his voice booming. "Listen up, everyone! I'm here to unveil the truth. Debra is nothing but a vile witch! Don't be deceived any longer! A witch cannot wed our Alpha; it spells disaster for us all!"
The crowd erupted into murmurs and gasps, eyes darting incredulously in my direction.
"Debra, a witch? Unbelievable! What's happening?"
“Frankly, I had my doubts about her."
Caught in the crossfire of Luis’ damning proclamation and the hushed murmurs of the crowd, Caleb's countenance transformed from joy to fury. Without hesitation, he barked orders to the guards. “Luis is a convicted criminal, spreading baseless accusations for personal vendettas. Don't heed his words! Detain him immediately!"
"Wait!" Luis' voice echoed, slicing through the tension. "There's no need to rush. If I stand here accusing Debra, it's because I have evidence to support my claim that she's a witch!"
With a sly glance at Caleb, Luis feigned concern. "Caleb, Alpha or not, you can't play favorites with an unidentified person. Witches are known for their malevolence, their grudge against the Thorn Edge Pack runs deep for generations. If Debra truly is a witch, are you willing to jeopardize the pack by letting her live?"
The elders, who harbored no fondness for me, stepped forward, drawn by the scent of controversy.
It was an opportunity to oppose me, the Luna they hadn't endorsed.
To them, stirring trouble was a gratifying pastime.
"Hold it! Let him speak," commanded one of the elders, thwarting the guards. "Show us the evidence, Luis, or you're just spouting nonsense."
Luis' reaction was unsurprising, as if this confrontation had been meticulously orchestrated. He smiled smugly.
