Why was there blood in the grass?
Debra's POV:
Just as I was about to take a closer look at the blood on the grass, Bella started walking forward.
“Bella, wait!"
I shouted to stop her.
I had a very bad feeling about this place, though I couldn't tell why. I just couldn't shake off the feeling that something very bad was about to happen.
But Bella completely ignored me and even quickened her pace.
I had no choice but to give up the idea of investigating the blood and hurried to catch up to Bella.
The foggy forest was too dangerous and strange. I couldn't risk being separated from Bella just because I had found a clue.
“Bella, can you please slow down?"
Bella picked up the pace, as though in a trance. She was like a bloodhound on a trail, hell-bent on following her nose.
"Bella, slow down! You're walking too fast. What if you miss something important?"
I asked.
But Bella still didn't answer me, nor did she slow down.
I was a little helpless. Bella seemed to have gone out of her mind.
After a while, the sky gradually became brighter. Sunlight streamed past the thick foliage, and the dew on the emerald glistened under the sun.
But the fog in the forest seemed to grow thicker. It was almost as though it was a living, breathing beast, engulfing trees, grass, and everything around us overwhelmingly.
In a matter of mere minutes, the fog was so thick that I could barely see Bella in front of me.
With our vision impaired, it was difficult to keep walking. The whole world seemed to be eaten up by the fog.
At this point, I was getting worried.
No, we couldn't keep going like this. I would lose Bella if she kept this pace.
"Bella, wait! We need to talk!"
I called Bella's name, hoping to discuss a proper solution to our predicament. But Bella still refused to respond to me.
I had no choice but to catch up with her quickly and grab her hand.
