With everyone's cooperation, we successfully knocked down the mad wolves.

We tied them up with ropes and dragged them in the direction of the marked tree.

Once the matter was settled and those mad wolves were successfully subdued, Caleb contacted Carlos. Their situation was similar to ours. Due to their coordinated attack, many of the mad wolves were knocked down by the tranquilizer before they could even fight.

Our combined success thus far increased Caleb's confidence.

He had always been calm, but now, he smiled happily and said, "At this rate, we'll definitely get out of here before dawn!"

With this brief pep talk, the others' fear dissipated and they were able to stay calm. Together, they cooperated to avoid a head-on confrontation with the mad wolves, and the efficiency of binding and dragging them also improved.

Everything was going smoothly.

As time passed, the residents of Roz Town and several lost members of the search and rescue team were located one by one. Fortunately, there were no signs of madness among the them at the moment.

Before dawn, the two groups rendezvoused.

Melany checked on us one by one. Afterwards, she announced grimly, "Your heart rate soared, speeding up your blood flow."

I wasn't surprised, because it just proved what I already guessed. Most adult werewolves weren't as affected by this special poison, and only when they were exposed directly to the source of the poison would the effect be more obvious.

Conversely, if the poison was sent out through other channels, its efficacy would decrease, only affecting children and pregnant women with weak immune systems.

I was certain Caleb thought the same way, because his expression darkened.

"We're still in the forest—the source of the poison. If we don't leave now, the probability that we'll go berserk is very high. We have to get the mad wolves out of here ASAP."

I agreed with him and turned to the others to give out orders. "Everyone, you have to get out of here now. Once one of us goes berserk, it'll be a domino effect. We don't have enough tranquilizer to subdue us all."

"I'm not leaving!"

I thought everyone would agree with me, but to my surprise, Melany shook her head firmly. "You can all go ahead, but I'm going to stay. I need to find Brian first!"

Debra's POV:

Melody's words left me stunned.

I whipped my head around and looked at the faces of the captured mad wolves carefully, but sure enough, Brian wasn't among them.

Caleb noticed this the same time I did.

His expression darkened.

But Caleb was calmer than both me and Melany, so it only took him a few seconds to come up with a plan. "Don't worry, Melany. We would never give up on anyone, including Brian. But as you can see, we're all in bad shape"

Something might happen if we delay for a little longer.
