The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy’s Daughter Chapter 142
142 A MYSTERIOUS MAN
Aside from Iris’s scent, which he was very familiar with, there was another scent that he didn’t. recognize. Someone was inside this room a moment ago, because the scent was still so strong. lingered in this room.
Cane knew that he was right when he saw Iris’s expression, she was stupefied. “What happened? Someone was here.” He looked around him, but he couldn’t find anyone.
“There was a man. He came through the window,” Iris said. She pointed at the window and Cane immediately looked outside. The window glass was opened, but there was no sign of someone was
there.
The scent of that man must have been blown away with the wind, thus he couldn’t pinpoint the direction where he had gone.
“How, he looks like?” Cane closed the window and locked it before he approached Iris. His eyes were so calm, it was hard to read what he was thinking right now.
“He looks so young, maybe twenty to twenty three years old, with green eyes and golden hair.” Iris tried to remember their short encounter with that young man.
“What he said?” Cane narrowed his eyes and stood right in front of Iris, so she needed to crane her neck to look at him, because of the stark different of their height.
“He didn’t say anything.”
“What he did?”
Iris’s cheeks dusted pink when she tried to explain, because no matter how she thought about their position earlier, it could cause a misunderstanding. “I was about to kick him, but I think he noticed someone was coming, so he stopped and disappeared, puff, like smoke.” She used her hands to emphasize her explanation.
Cane looked at her closely, just like that man did, but this time, Iris shrunk back and lowered her head.
The silence stretched between them in this room and Cane was deep in thought, until he heard the bell rang in the distance, indicating that it was evening already.
He tapped her shoulder to get her attention. “We will leave now.” There was no way to find out who was that man, who had entered this room and more so, they needed to leave this place, after Cane had sorted out all the things that he wanted to do in this black market.
He didn’t come only to look for grain and dry meat.
“Oh, yes…” Iris said softly and started to pack her things. Thankfully, she had enough sleep and now felt a little bit better to have another long journey back to their pack.
However, this time, Cane waited for her and together they went to the first floor and had their dinner before they left the black market.
“Where is Ethan?” Iris just noticed that the gamma was missing when they had their dinner.
“He had already left, we will meet him in the Arleen city,” Will replied.
And then, they didn’t talk much, neither Cane talked about the mysterious man that had entered her bedroom and disappeared like smoke.
Because this was the black market, of course, there would be some sort of people. That man could be a magic user, but for what intention he came to see her, Cane couldn’t think of a reason for that.
Their plan was to leave the black market after this dinner, but when Iris was about to finish her meal. she could feel the tension from the three men on the table and lifted her head only to see their eyes fixed on a certain someone behind her back. Their eves filled with malice.
Out of instinct, Iris turned around to see who was that only to figure out it was the crown prince, Alan, and his old advisor, Corry Maleen, along with five guards behind them.
“Here you are! I thought we will never see each other again!” Alan said smugly, he walked closer to Cane’s table, while Corry kept frowning, he was trying to tug his sleeves and stop this clueless crown prince of his, but it was a futile attempt.
“I hope I will never see him again, actually,” Will muttered under his breath, while Redmond snickered.
“We leave now,” Cane said curtly, as he stood up, but at the same time the crown prince came closer to him and blocked their way.
The five men behind him also surrounded them, which attracted a few people’s attention.
Iris also stood up when Redmond and Will took a stand behind Cane. They looked at the crown prince and the other people with him frostily.
“Who told you that you can leave?!” Alan looked so haughty, while Corry looked so distressed by his action. They shouldn’t have provoked Cane in the first and avoided him altogether.
However, like usual, Cane didn’t waste his breath and make his way out of there, followed by Will and Redmond, who took Iris with them as well.
Yet, before they could reach the door, one of the guards that Alan brought with him blocked his way and locked the entrance door, trapped them inside.
People around the table became more and more interested with what would happen next. Some of them knew that this was the crown prince, but because in this place your title meant nothing, thus they didn’t look at him deferentially. He was the same like the other.
On the other hand, Alan moved around Redmond and snatched Iris’s hand to pull her to his side. which something that they didn’t expect.
Iris shrieked and tried to wriggle her hand, but his grip was so tight and she felt her bone would break because of it. This man didn’t even consider his strength at all.
“I will borrow her for a while,” Alan sneered at Cane, who looked at him frigidly. “Don’t worry, return her in one piece after Lou has done with her.”
I will
However, after saying that and before anyone could react, Alan suddenly let go of Iris’s hand abruptly, as if he was just being electrocuted.
His glaring eyes looked at her. “What is that?!”
