145 STEALING THE STONE
That was completely a bullshit that the head guild had spouted. How could his pet enter the door that was sealed by magic?
“I need your mate to find it.” Lou looked at Iris with interest, though he was talking with Cane right. now. His eyes filled with curiosity upon seeing this auburn hair.
Auburn hair and clear blue eyes… that was not a trait in this continent. For that, he was very sure.
And that kind of gaze didn’t go unnoticed by Cane’s eyes. “If you can’t find it, what makes you think
she can?”
“Huh?” Lou seemed to recover his wits and laughed awkwardly. He didn’t think of that question at all. “Lil Thing is very special and I am sure your mate will be able to call it out of its hideout.”
Even Will was able to realize that this man was talking rubbish, but he didn’t voice out his opinion, while Redmond had long ignored the conversation, because he knew this man was a swindler and it was already a mistake for them to come here in the first place.
“What kind of place is that?”
“Just an abandon cave.” Lou shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly.
“Just an abandoned cave? So, there is nothing inside, correct?” Cane repeated the same thing. He looked at the head of the guild and nodded. “Okay. Even though his excuse was completely didn’t make sense, he agreed.
Will and Redmond frowned. They knew the alpha was up for something, but they didn’t know what it was, thus they could only wait what he was going to do.
“So, what are you waiting for?” Cane asked, as he took Iris’s hand.
The corner of Lou’s lips twitched, this was his place, his guild and his request, but why he felt like he was the one, who was being ordered around? And this alpha could do whatever? This didn’t feel right
at all.
But, even when he was thinking that way, he couldn’t retaliate against him, which vexed him even
more.
“Only you two that will come, the rest will wait here,” Lou grumbled, as he led the way.
Meanwhile, Redmond and Will were about to argue, but Cane shot them a glance, which silence them, as they could only see their retreating back.
“What kind of person this Lou is?” Will looked at Redmond, once it was only the two of them inside this waiting room.
Redmond flopped down and grumbled again. “A busy body,” he replied curtly, but that was all, because that was the truth.
On the other hand, Iris glanced at Cane beside her, as she could feel his callous hand wrapped hers. His hand was so big and warm and it gave her a sense of safety. It was weird she felt that way from the man that had hurt her.
This was the second time they were here and the same old man had been waiting for them in front of the door, as he opened it. Iris watched how the door glowed in golden light before it was opened.
“Here” Lou leaned lazily against the door frame and glanced at Iris once again, before he looked at Cane. “Please for your cooperation. I hope to see my Lil Thing again.”
Cane said nothing and walked past the door with fris closed to him. “How can I get out from here?”
“Don’t worry, he will be inside as well.” Lou nodded at the old man and he stepped in as well, closing the door heim. And right now, it was only the three of them behind the door, while Lou was in the opposite. “I hope to see my Lil Thing very soon!” Lou shouted.
However, inside the cave, Cane ignored him completely.
“Are we going to find the animal?” Iris lifted her head to look at him.
“No.” Cane shook his head and then walked further inside the cave, so the old man couldn’t see them.
“Find all the stones.”
She knew it!
Iris couldn’t help, but chuckled. Cane wouldn’t have come here again if she didn’t tell him that this cave filled with water magic stones.
“Is there something funny? Cane frowned at her happy little face.
Iris immediately stopped herself and shook her head. “I- I will start looking for the stones,” she said hurriedly.
Actually, she didn’t need to look for it, because they were surrounded by the stones right now, but Iris tried to busy herself.
“Are you sure, this is alright?” Iris was a little bit hesitant.
“This is an abandoned cave, he said it himself.”
“Should we find the pet first?”
“I have never said that I will find it.”
Okay, fine. The alpha became very cunning.
“Here and here…” Iris pointed out the spot where they could find the stone, while Cane easily dug into the stone wall and retrieved the magic stone from the crumbling rock. He could do it even without any tools.
Because of how efficient they were, within an hour, Cane could find around fifteen water magic stones and the number would only increase.
At this point, both of them had forgotten about their mission to come here in the first place, as they enjoyed what they were doing.
In Iris’s mind, these stones could be sold and they would get more money, but she was not sure what in Cane’s mind, since he looked so calm and serious with what they were doing right now.
But, whatever it was, Iris liked this quiet moment between the two of them.
Iris tugged at Cane’s sleeves and then pointed at the small mound of stones at the other side. “How
can we carry it out?”
Right now, there were around thirty stones, which the size of two fingers, therefore it wouldn’t be easy to carry them out with only both of them.
However, Cane was already prepared, he took off his travel cloak and put all the stones inside, made it like a bag.
“Don’t you feel like we are stealing these stones?”
“No,” Cane replied simply, guilt-free.
