553 MONSTER ATTACK
"Clean up this bear. It looks so dirty," Cane saidbefore he went to talk with the other warriors and checked a few things.
Even though Cane didn't like the person, who had given the bear, but hearing how ferocious this furball could be in the battlefield when it helped to defend the pack against their enemy and those warriors that had been infused by dark magic, the idea of having another layer of protection for his mate offset his annoyance. 1
It would be great if the bear could bite off the head of that mysterious man, if he appeared again near his mate, so it would help to reduce his worry significantly. 3
On the other hand, Ethan scratched his nose. "I think he doesn't really hate you, you should be glad with this news," he mumbled under his breath to the sleeping bear.
With that, he asked someone to scrub the bear and clean it up before feeding it, yet Lil Thing didn't even wake up, until they gave it food and was ready to leave.
Dean was assigned to assist this white furball so it wouldn't fall too behind them.
"Now, it is us again," Dean said with a deepsighed and the bear whimpered, seeminglyunsatisfied with the arrangement too.
"Luna, are you, okay?" Joel asked when Iris cameto his carriage to check on him. He felt bad because the luna had to be bothered with his condition, despite Iris reassurance that she was fine and she did this without even have the slightest thought that he was a burden.
Still, the young warrior felt bad because he took so much time for someone in her station, but every time he tried to talk about it, Iris would shush him and look at him with stern look, which didn't suit her at all, telling him that she was going to be really mad if he kept talking about it.
Which essentially stopped Joel from apologizing.
"I am fine..." Iris said, she bit her lip because shefelt uncomfortable of sitting down, since she was very sore. She kept telling herself not to do it often, but she couldn't resist the temptation.
It was already seven days, since they left for the Silver River pack and it would take another four days before they reached their destination with this speed.
Usually, it would only take nine days to reach . Silver River pack from the Howling Wolf pack, but this time, because they carried a lot of things and there were at least three big carriages and a dozen carriages to carry their things, it slowed them down significantly. At this point, Lil Thing managed to catch up with them and sometime, the creature would run ahead of them until Dean led it back to the entourage, before it could roam around and get lost.
It was a common sight to see the white furball and even some warrior had grown to like this bear, as they slept around it and used it as pillow when they were going to sleep. Thankfully, the silly bear didn't mind it, as it slept well through the night to barely notice that. 1
"You look not comfortable, luna," Celia chimed in,she stared at Iris with her innocent eyes and she tried her hard not to blush when she remembered the caused of her discomfort. 1
Meanwhile, Haco was fiddling with a few leaves that he found along their journey. The sorcerer looked fine now, even though there was some moment, he forgot about Iris and even looked at her with a frown, as if she was a stranger when she came to his carriage.
"T- try to move your leg!" Iris stumbled with herwords, desperately trying to get their attention off her.
"Oh." Joel quickly let go of the topic and tried tomove his legs, the last time, he could move them more and this made him was very happy, he tried harder, but when Grace found out, she reprimanded him not to force himself because it could set back his progress. Now Joel could feel more on his legs, such cold or hot, or even felt it when there was fur fell on his legs. Lil Thing would leave his fur after it came close to his carriage window, or even poking its muzz le inside the window with curiosity.
"Luna, look!" Joel exclaimed. He could lift his legs, even though it was only an inch away from the bed and it didn't last for long, but of course, it was a progress. "Look! Did you see that?!" Joel was ecstatic. 1
"I see that! I see that!" Celia clapped her hands inexcitement, she was so happy for him.
Because the three of them stayed in the same carriage, Celia had been looking after Joel as well. It was not anything hard, she only helped him if he needed to get something that he couldn't reach by himself.
Joel would also talk with Haco more, whenever the sorcerer forgot about something or he was talking about random thing.
It didn't happen often, but sure enough it happened more than before.
"Yes, I saw it," Iris said, she felt her eyes stung.because she was about to cry. The feeling of happiness engulfed her. She felt so proud of herself because she was able to be a help for someone that she cared.( 1
Living her entire life and believed she couldn't doanything, aside to be a burden, really messed up her mind.
Therefore, when Joel made a progress, it was also a progress for her.
"Luna, you are so great! It's truly a bless for ourpack to have you as our luna!" Joel said cheerfully. He was so genuine with his words until Iris could feel it. Her heart was so warmth and a hug from Celia was well appreciated because she couldn't hug Joel, since it was not appropriate.
On the other hand, Haco didn't seem to be bothered by this joyful moment, as he fiddled with his leaves and stared at the sky out there.
It was Celia, who approached him and told him about the good news, but all the sorcerer did was smiling at this young girl.
Iris felt this bitterness in her heart to see Haco's condition, she hoped, she could do something with him just like how she helped Joel, but it was not possible, since Haco didn't have wolf spirit.
However, the delight of Joel's progress didn't last for long, as from outside they could hear a few warriors shouted on the top of their lungs to let them know about a monster attack.
A second later Aliana appeared on the door of the carriage.
"Stay inside! No one come out!" Aliana saidsternly before she slammed the door and shifted into her beast and joined the fight with the other warriors.
"Luna..." Celia came to Iris and hug her, afraid. This was the first time for her to go on a journey and was attacked by monsters on the road.
"Don't worry, we will be safe," Iris reassured her.
Joel immediately looked at the condition out there through the window beside him and watched how three Vermeyes rushed toward them.
