571 THE CURSED BABY

They named the baby after his father. Vemion. It was a devastating moment for Laluna to learn how she lost her mate because of the lycan only a few weeks before she supposed to give birth to Vemion's first child. 1

Not to mention everything fell apart after that moment. A lot of things had happened and Laluna felt like she was not able to keep up with the drastic change that surrounded her life.

From losing her mate to be the mother of the future king of this kingdom and then the unrest in the capital city, where she had to leave and go back to her pack for the protection, but only then she realized her baby was being cursed and now they were so desperate to find a cure for her baby.

They would do everything to save little Vemion, because this less than three months old baby held a great power and a valid reason for them to fight for the throne, without the babv, the v would beseen as a rebellion pack, as they lost the case, the reason why they were in hot water with the royal family.

It was not they cared about the baby, but the value that came with him that they cared the most.

Laluna felt ill to her stomach whenever she remembered that fact.

"Serafim," Lalun a greeted her, as shecurtsied with the baby in her arms, but Abby immediately stopped her, so she didn't need to bend her body.

"Let me check on your son," Abby saidsoftly, she glanced at the baby, but she couldn't find anything. The baby was currently sleeping now, but there was no indication of dark magic apparently.

But then, Abby couldn't determine the answer without having a thorough check on the baby. Her power was not strong enough to tell whether or not the baby was cursed by the dark magic without any visible sign. 5

"Yes, please save my son, Serafim," Lalunasaid with a grief tone. She walked backtoward Vemion's cribs and laid him there.

"Can you tell me what happened with him?"Abby needed all the information she could get to determine how to purify the dark magic, if the poor baby was indeed being cursed.2

Laluna then told the Serafim about how her baby would cry for hours to no end and would often have a seizure, which freaked them out. The baby would bleed from his orifices.

"And this..." Laluna unswaddled the babyand showed his rash skin, they looked so horrified to be on the little one, it looked so painful and Abby gasped in surprised."What should we do, Serafim? Can you lift the dark magic? The people in the palace is so cruel to attack my baby." 2

Kod a stepped forward and pleaded with the Serafim as well, of course, he didn't forget to insert a few insults toward the royal family, so the Serafim would help more with their cases.

"I believe you can lift the curse, right?"Koda said with expectant tone, whilestaring at the Serafim, who was silence the whole time.

Iris was having a hard time to find Cane. When she arrived at the place, where he supposed to be there, he had gone a few minutes earlier, as if someone had told him that Iris was coming over and he left immediately.

No matter what Aliana said to reassure her that was unintentional, Iris knew Cane was trying to avoid her. Was he that mad at her, until he didn't want to see her? Iris became even more frustrated. She went to the tent, where they treated the injured people after the attack last time.

Iris needed to do something, to distract her mind from thinking too much about Cane's action. She really regretted it for defying him, especially in front of his people. If she could, she would rather to have Cane reprimanded her and snapped back at her when she didn't oblige than to have him ignored her like this.

Iris felt so miserable. ①"Cane, how long do you want to avoid her?"Ethan sighed deeply, as he watched Iris was sitting next to Lil Thing and caressed the white fur creature with blank expression after she helped with the injured people inside the tent.1

The ga mma stood next to his alpha, who was stubborn enough not to approach his mate and chose to look at her from afar.

"I know you are upset because she didn'tlisten to you, but shouldn't you talk things out, instead of avoiding her?" Ethan asked, both his alpha and luna looked miserable and it affected him as well. He didn't like this tension between them. 2

However, the truth was not as simple as it seemed on the surface, it was not only because of her action that made Cane became even more closed off, but also because of his recent decision.

After all, killing your enemy was an easy job compared to killing your own people...

Ethan stopped his rambling when Cane glanced at him. It was enough to tell the ga mma that he messed up again."What the news from the Red Cla w pack?"Cane asked callously.

"Oh, Koda wrote that the Serafi m hasstarted the treatment for his great grandson and now they are waiting the progress of it," Ethan immediately replied, afraid Cane would be more upset. "They also tried to reach out to Celestial Moon pack to make alpha Derick side with them, especially when the royal had killed Kade."

Kade was the previous king's righthand man from Celestial Moon pack. He was killed because alpha Derick sheltered prince Kellan, which his action showed which side the alpha had decided on.

"It seems they really do the plan you haveset for them," Ethan said with a grin. "But, if you think about it again, they don't have a prominent figure to strategize their next move. You have made them relied on you so bad, Cane!You awed me again!" Oh, of course, the ga mma didn't forget with the praise, hoping he could get out from Cane's bad side after his rambling.

"The warrior from the Bloody Wolf pack willarrive soon, go and delegate their task,"Cane said, he didn't even bother to listen how his ga mma tried to flatter him.

"There are around two hundred and fifty ofthem... can't you give me Oliver to help?"Ethan then blinked his eyes, as if he just realized something. "I have not yet seen him after our fight, have you sent him somewhere?" 1

Cane's eyes darkened slightly with the mention of Oliver's name. "I sent him back to the Riverside pack to overlook the construction tunnel there."

"Ah! That's why I have not yet seen him!"Ethan clicked his tongue. "You don't need to send him away, we just have disagreement, that's all." Ethan felt bad for Oliver but, his eyes li t up. "But, I am happy you side with me!"

Cane threw him a dagger look. "If you think I did it for you, you can stop your delusion."

Ethan's smile disappeared almost immediately, as he pouted. "I thought you care about me so much.... Where are you going?!"Cane didn't have time to listen to Ethan's complain, so he turned and left in Ethan's midsentence.

"Can't I have Aliana to help, at least?! Cane!Alpha!" Ethan chased after Cane.

And with that, Iris didn't see Cane for a whole three days. Aliana would tell her that Cane came to visit her in the middle of the night when she had fallen as leep and then left without staying by her side. 1

On the third day when they supposed to leave this pack, Iris still couldn't manage to meet with Cane and her guilty feeling turned into frustration and now she was angry. Her mood instantly ruined when she saw the spot next to her was empty again this morning.

You could tell how bad mood the luna was when she glared at the warrior, who told her the alpha just left before she arrived at the training ground.

The tent had been put down and the injured people were fine now. There were new addition to their entourage, it was the warrior from the Bloody Wolf pack, butCane had given an instruction for the additional warrior to guard at their outer part, so Iris had not yet seen any of them.

"Luna, come here, quick!" Aliana took awaya bo wl of water from her and then grabbed her hand to take her somewhere.

"What happened?" Iris looked confused, asshe ran beside Aliana in this long corridor. It didn't take long until she was out of breath. Yes, her health had improved, thanked to Grace, but it didn't mean she could run next to a shifter like Aliana and k ept up the pa ce with her.

"I found where is the alpha, we need tohurry, or else, he will runaway again!" Aliana said enthusiastically. She didn't slow down at all, forcing Iris to move her legs faster. 1

The way Aliana talked about Cane, made it sound like the alpha was a runaway prisoner or something.

Once they arrived at the greenhouse, where you could see Cane's figure through the glasses with another three warriors, Iris felt lightheaded. She had never run this fast in her entire life.pushed Iris into the greenhouse and the next thing Iris knew, she had interrupted an important discussion.

"Luna Iris." The other three warriorsgreeted Iris and nodded at her, but Cane had this flat expression, it was hard to tell what was in his mind.
