572 SOMETHING THE HEALER COULDN'T HEAL
Being stared at like this and knowing how she had interrupted their discussion, making Iris wanted to apologize and back down. The door was behind her and all she needed was to turn around and then left. 1
But then, she would lose her chance to talk with Cane...
"Uhm... Can you leave us for a while?" Irisasked timidly, trying so hard to look firm, but she failed in that part. "P- please..." She was very nervous.
She became even more depressed when those three warriors turned to their alpha, waiting for him to say something about the order from their luna.
Iris assumed Cane would ask her to leave. It would be embarrassing, but she could understand if Cane did that.
However, the alpha wouldn't put his luna in such position. He wouldn't intentionallyembarrass her. 1
"You hear the luna's order," Cane said aftera long pause, as he stared at Iris's defeated expression, thinking he would turn her down.
Only then, Iris could sigh in relief. Her shoulders visibly relaxed a bit.
Hearing what the alpha said, the three warriors immediately left the scene, because even them, could feel the heavy atmosphere that shrouded their alpha and luna. They knew the two of them were not in a good term, because of what happened that day.
And somehow, they wished the two of them would be able to fix their problem, because recently the alpha was very scary. He looked like he had this murderous intention around him and that was too much for them.
"What do you want, Iris?" Cane asked.Surprisingly, his voice was so gentle, because Iris expected he would snarl at her for interrupting him with his warriors and became defiant again. What should I say? I am sorry? Why did you ignore me? Do you still mad at me?
Iris had been thinking what she was going to say when she met with Cane again, but now, she was not sure what to say, her throat was tightened and her eyes welled up with tears, she became very emotional.
"If there is nothing, you want to say, I willleave." Cane even didn't use the door behind Iris, though it was closer, he tended to use the door behind him and avoided her again. He didn't even want to be in the close proximity with her. 2
What was wrong? Did he that mad? Like, mad mad very mad with her? What she could do to fix it?
Out of desperation and didn't know what to do, Instead of talking and starting to explain why she was there, Iris yelled at him.
"Cane!Stop right there!" Iris shouted at himout of impulse, because she watched how Cane was going to leave. 1
This managed to make Cane stopped andglanced at her over his shoulder in disbelieve. "First, you defied me and now you ordered me?" His tone was so dark it laced with perplexion. Did he give her enough guts to be this bold to him? 3
Iris bit her lip, she felt like her body was getting smaller under his intense gaze, she didn't dare to raise her head and stared at the ground beneath her feet. She waited, thinking Cane would start to scold her or something, but instead of doing that, the alpha simply resumed walking away from her. 2
"Cane, wait!" Iris hastily raised her head andchased after her, she knew if Cane really wanted to walk away from her, he could do that with ease, she couldn't physically hold him back.
Therefore, out of desperation, Iris tried to reach Cane before he could walk out of this greenhouse, her plan was very simple, she would clutch onto him with all the strength she had and wouldn't let him go until he agreed to talk to her and stop ignoring her.
However, it was very unfortunate for herthat her short legs didn't want to cooperate. Her feet tripped on something on the ground and she stumbled. She lost her balance and her head hit one of the racks, which caused all the pots to fall. 2
Iris shrieked as she watched those pots fell on her and then closed her eyes in fear. Not only the pots, but the rack was about to collapse as well. She braced herself for the pain, but the next thing she felt, was someone pulled her forward and her face was pressed against his sturdy chest, as she could hear the rumble groans from inside his chest and also the sound of broken pot around them.
It was scary, but Iris knew it was Cane, who was holding her tightly, protecting her from her clumsiness.
Only when the scary sound of the broken pots stopped, Cane released Iris and checked on her immediately. His eyes became so dark and the f rown between his brows looked so scary when he saw her forehead swollen, it must be because she had hit her head against the rack.
However, the alpha became even morefearso me when Iris started to cry.
She didn't cry because her head was in pain, she didn't even care about the pain, but she cried because she saw how much Cane worried about her and this made her relief, which caused her to cry, thinking she was going to lose him, since he had been ignoring her.
Such relief feeling made she wanted to cry and once she did, she couldn't stop, while Cane became even more anxious to see her tears, thinking Iris was in so much pain.
The only visible wound that he could see was on her forehead, but there was no blood, aside from his. Some sharp shard from the broken pots must have cut him, but this kind of wounds were nothing for Cane.
Cane was silence when he picked Iris up carefully and walked out of this mess, the shards were crushed under his feet when he headed toward the exit door, while Iris hugged his neck tightly, as if she didn't want to let him go, still crying.
A few days ago, she defied him and only lessthan five minutes ago, she shouted an order to him and now she was crying desperately.
Cane was half running to reach Grace in her room,. but there was Joel and Celia inside, the young warrior just received treatment from the healer, while Celia accompanied him, they were about to leave when the alpha stormed inside and startled them all. It almost felt like there was a monster barged into this room, as they could feel dangerous aura came from the alpha.
"Leave!" Cane growled, as he put Iris on thebed, but her mate refused to let go of his neck. She clutched onto him like she was being glued to him.
On the other hand, Celia immediately pushed Joel's wheelchair, the little girl was so scared to see the alpha was enraged and wanted to leave immediately. Joel took a glance at the luna, looking worried, but he would be crazy if he insisted to stay. In less than a minute, both him and Celia were already out of the room and the healer closed the door behind them."Wh- what happened?" Grace asked, approaching Cane and stared at Iris.
"She is hurt," Cane said grimly.
"Hurt?" Grace came closer, she couldn't seewhere Iris was hurt and not able to smell blood from her. "Can I see where do you hurt?"
Iris refused to lay down and bury her face against the crook of Cane's neck, she didn't want to let him go. This was her plan after all. The more Cane tried to pry himself out of her arms, the more Iris tightened her grip on him, while Grace could only see her back. 1
"Luna, can I see where did you hurtyourself? I promise I will be quick," Grace coaxed her, but then she was speechless when Iris started to straddle Cane, because he was going to free himself from her forcefully, so Grace could check on her injury. 2
"No!" Iris said sternly. Her voice was so hardand harsh.
Judging by her voice alone, Grace knew, shewas fine, or at the very least, whatever injury she sustained it was not a life threatening one.
But seriously, she felt so awkward to watch their position right now.
There was time when Grace saw the alpha acted strangely, like he was not himself, but at this moment, it was the luna. How she could straddle the alpha in the presence of other people?!
"Alpha, I think the luna is fine. Probably, sheis only shock from what had happened, so it will be better to let her calm down, I will make a concoction to calm her nerves."Grace tactfully made an excuse to leave this room. She bolted to ward the door once the alpha nodded, leaving the two of them alone. 1
But, outside of the room, she met with Aliana, who was grinning from ear to ear. "How is the luna? Why are you going out?The alpha asked you to go?"
Grace frowned, this sister of the beta was rather c unning and she knew that. "I want to make a concoction for the luna, it seemsshe is in shock."
"Nah!" Aliana waved her hand and put herarm around Grace shoulder, as she walked her over. "Don't bother them, at least for the next ten to twelve hours." 2
"What?!" Grace wanted to swat Aliana'shand away, as she walked her toward different direction.
"Trust me, my friend, there are a lot ofthings that you can't heal," Aliana grinned.
