Chapter 1410:

Seeing that, Keira and Sandra shared a triumphant glance, the corners of their lips lifting with barely restrained delight. Sandra leaned in close to her mother, her whisper filled with excitement. “Mom, it’s really happening. I’m about to be recognized as a member of the Harper family. If the Harpers had accepted me earlier, I could have been living the good life all this time. Why didn’t you uncover the truth about my parentage sooner?” Updates are released by fιɴdnοvel.net

Though her words were hushed, Brenna caught every syllable. Her lips curved into a cold smile as she replied, her voice laced with disdain. “Don’t celebrate too quickly. The DNA test results aren’t in yet.”

Brenna’s voice cut through the air, firm and unyielding. “I don’t care what you’re plotting, or whether Sandra turns out to be my father’s daughter. In my house, you will behave. Don’t stir up any trouble.”

A dull throb pulsed behind her temples, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. Since returning to the family, she had never felt so frustrated—not even when Rosie was around. The feeling gnawed at her, leaving her more irritated by the second.

Her gaze snapped to Keira. “Did you hear me?” The warning was deliberate.

Brenna could already tell Sandra was too meek to start anything, but Keira—brazen, loud, and unrefined—was the problem. Keep Keira restrained, and everything else could be managed.

Keira, however, was practically glowing with triumph. She had gotten exactly what she wanted: entry into the Harper family’s residence. To her, that was already a victory. If Sandra’s identity was recognized, she could live her life without marrying Shepard. All that mattered was that her daughter became a member of the Harper family.

Her daughter would definitely be able to get money from the Harper family, and then Keira could indulge in gambling or shopping for designer clothes and bags as she wished.

Keira lifted her chin, trying to look gracious. “Alright, I’m not difficult. As long as you treat my daughter as family, I won’t make a fuss.” Pulling out her phone, she flicked to her banking app and showed the screen to Brenna and Ernst. “See? I don’t even have enough to buy food right now. Since Sandra will be part of your family sooner or later, why not give me a little spending money? Nothing outrageous—a million should do.”

She carried herself with confidence, chin lifted as if the Harpers owed her. Cornered by circumstance, Brenna and Ernst had little choice but to bring her and her daughter to their home, and she believed squeezing money out of them would be just as simple.

Ernst ignored her. His attention stayed glued to his phone as his fingers typed swiftly, firing off instructions to the company’s PR team. His family’s image had already taken a hit, and every second counted if they were to manage the storm that was brewing.

Keira’s patience snapped. She poked at Ernst’s arm, her voice sharp. “Don’t ignore me! Transfer the money, now!”

Her eyes darted to Brenna. “You can also do it. A million is nothing to your family anyway.”

Brenna’s lips curved into a cool, almost mocking smile. “Do you think the Harper family is an easy target or your personal ATM? The DNA test results aren’t even out yet, and you’re already demanding money. Tell me, Keira—what happens if it turns out Sandra isn’t my father’s daughter?”
