Caden's expression darkened as he pushed past him toward the master bedroom.
Caught off guard, Jasmine blinked in surprise as she asked, "Mr. Ward? What brings you back?"
Caden's voice was cold as he retorted, "And why shouldn't I be here?"
He reached for the door, but his hand faltered just as he was about to push it open.
"How is Grandma doing now?" he asked.
Jasmine didn't hide anything when she saw his expression. “It was a sudden stroke."
Sensing Caden's chilling aura, she quickly added, “It happened this morning. She was taken to the hospital and woke up an hour ago. She didn't want to stay there, so we brought her home. The doctor says she will recover with time, so try not to worry too much."
Caden only dared to open the bedroom door when he heard that.
Memories of the day he lost his mother flooded back. He had stormed into the delivery room back then, only to be met with a harrowing scene.
He couldn't bear for history to repeat itself.
Inside the master bedroom, Ciara lay on the large bed, her breathing shallow but steady.
Caden didn't disturb her. He only glanced at her vitals before quietly leaving the room.
Alicia, who was waiting for him outside, looked at him with eyes full of concern.
“How is she?" she asked softly.
“She is okay," he replied. “The stroke was triggered by high blood pressure. Thankfully, it wasn't severe. She just needs time and rest to get back on her feet."
Alicia let out a sigh, her relief fleeting as tension still clung to the room like a heavy fog.
Under Caden's unyielding gaze, Jasmine understood and reluctantly handed him the video.
Caden barely glanced at the screen before Alicia took over, quickly setting the laptop up to trace the video's IP address.
"Who sent this?" Caden asked Jasmine.
Jasmine replied, "It was anonymous. When Ciara had her stroke, we all rushed her to the hospital. I didn't think to ask anyone to keep an eye on things."
A few keystrokes later, Alicia's voice cut through the room. “This IP address traces back to Corey's company."
Without hesitation, Caden turned and headed for the stairs.
Jasmine called after him, her voice tinged with urgency. “Mr. Ward, wait! There is something else you need to know. Your mother's brother has just returned from overseas. He has been looking for you."
However, Caden didn't look back. He strode straight out the door.
Alicia quickened her pace to keep up with Caden, desperate to keep him from acting impulsively.
Surprisingly enough, Caden seemed calm. Although his movements were swift and a little forceful, his expression was cautions and reserved.
"It was Corey who informed me about the incident about the mannequins. He claims that he knows who did it."
Alicia's eyes flickered. She had guessed as much.
She glanced at Caden, guessing that he shared her suspicions.
He probably couldn't bring himself to believe it, which was why he felt the need to verify the truth himself.
