Orion looked at the unfamiliar man in front of him. Judging by his facial features, he bore some resemblance to the Langstons.
He hadn't seen this man before.
Glancing at the other Langston brothers present, Orion made a quick guess about his identity.
This was most likely Rowan Langston, the elusive third brother who had been living abroad.
Orion didn't have much of a favorable impression of anyone from the Langston family. His expression remained neutral as he gave a slight nod.
Lemira turned to look at Rowan. "I'm heading out first. Just let me know when there's an update on Hale's condition."
Rowan nodded. "Don't worry. As long as I'm here, there won't be any issues."
Lemira then looked at Orion. "Let's go."
She had more to say to him, but with so many people around, it wasn't the right place to speak.
Orion understood her cue and naturally followed her out.
The three of them stepped into the elevator.
Sebastian positioned himself squarely between Orion and Lemira. He looked at her and said, "I'll go talk to the Jones family about this personally."
"It won't do any good for you to go," Orion said coldly.
Sebastian instantly bristled. "Why wouldn't it do any good? Sure, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth like some people, but there are always other ways. Ordinary people have their own methods."
Orion turned his head slightly. "Your methods are too slow. What we need right now is to force the Jones family to stop pulling strings behind the scenes."
"How do you know my methods are slow?"
Sebastian was clearly displeased. He looked at Lemira. "Who do you choose?"
Lemira gave him a baffled look. What did he mean, who did she choose?
Weren't these two just having a conversation? How did it suddenly turn into her making a choice?
She cleared her throat. "We should observe the situation a bit longer. If we just show up at their door recklessly, we don't have any hard proof, do we? People like that are usually hard to deal with, and empty threats won't work. Otherwise, Mrs. Amelia wouldn't have picked a man like him to be her son-in-law."
Sebastian scoffed. "With his age, he's even older than Mrs. Amelia herself."
Lemira could also tell that the man was getting on in years. After all, his son was about the same age as Sophia Sinclair.
She frowned slightly. "Would Mrs. Amelia really throw her own daughter to the wolves just to clear her own name?"
Lemira couldn't quite wrap her head around it.
Sebastian's tone was thick with
sarcasm. "There are plenty of people like that. They look human on the outside, but they're monsters underneath. Given the things the Sinclair family has done overthe years they te hardly innocent, Didn't Sophia enjoy all the perks of the dirty work?"
After he finished speaking, he looked at Lemira. "Are you pitying Sophia?"
"No, she probably wishes I were dead. Where would I find the grace to pity someone like that?"
Lemira had never been soft-hearted.
It was just a passing thought.
As the three of them stepped out the elevator, Lemira looked at
any ranex
Sebastian. "Don't make
moves with the dones family for now." .
"Alright, I get it. Do you think I actually want to make extra work for myself?"
Sebastian cast a disdainful look at Orion, then turned to Lemira. "Let's go. I'll drive you back."
She looked at him. "You head back first. I need to talk to him about something."
Sebastian gritted his teeth. "Fine. Just don't let certain people fool you. Keep in mind, he's the defendant."
He emphasized the word 'defendant' once more before turning on his heel and walking away.
Lemira watched him leave, caught somewhere between amusement and exasperation.
Orion noticed the faint smile on her
lips, and his brow furrowed
instinctively. She seemed to
getting along quite well with
Sebastian.
Staring at the lawyer's retreating figure, he felt an undeniable sting of jealousy.
He forced himself to look away and turned to Lemira. "What did you want to say?"
She thought for a moment. "How is Mrs. Amanda doing? You mentioned you found a kidney donor, right?"
"Yes, we're already preparing to schedule the surgery."
Lemira hesitated. "Do you think surgery is the best option, or would conservative treatment be better?"
