"It's not that he's afraid of dying. He just wants to take a young new wife and is desperate to feel young again," Jasper said, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
Orion looked at Jasper and spoke coldly. "We've always stayed out of each other's way. But if your father is willing to cause trouble for the sake of a woman, I'm more than happy to play along. Let's go."
"Mr. Everhart, please don't leave. I'm here to host you personally."
"You don't have the authority."
Orion had no intention of wasting his breath on someone with zero power in the family.
Sebastian stepped forward and patted Jasper on the shoulder. "Don't take it personally. These billionaires are all the same."
Jasper's face contorted in anger. "What exactly is the Everhart family playing at?"
Sebastian seamlessly slipped into the role of the good cop. "Listen, Jasper, we've worked together before. Let me give it to you straight. Mr. Everhart is very fond of the Langston girl. He's stepping in on her behalf. You need to talk some sense into your dad. It's not worth going to war with the Everharts over this."
"If my dad listened to reason, we wouldn't be in this mess. I don't get it. He used to be so sharp, but now he's letting a woman pull him by the nose."
Sebastian immediately saw an opening.
He said smoothly, "I get it. You might not be able to stop him directly, but you can pull strings behind the scenes. As long as the witness stays safe and we can get to trial to make the Sinclairs pay, Mr. Everhart might just let this slide without holding a grudge against your dad."
Jasper hesitated. "My dad hates traitors."
"You're not betraying him; you're saving him. Once he gets bored of that woman and snaps out of it, he'll realize you made the right call. He's always been hard on you. If you pull this off and earn a favor from Mr. Everhart in the process, imagine how good that would look."
Jasper nodded slowly. "Alright. Give me some time."
"Great. If your family wants to keep their hands clean, this is the perfect opportunity."
With that, Sebastian walked away. When he got downstairs, he saw Orion waiting by his car, exactly as expected.
He walked over. "I got Jasper on board. Knowing him, he'll play ball. Whatever moves they try to make, we'll know about it. Once the trial is over, all of this ends."
Orion nodded. "That pharmaceutical company... I just ran a quick check. It belongs to Rowan Langston."
He knew the name sounded familiar.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "So the Langstons are making their move too."
Orion nodded. "Looks like it. But I don't trust them."
"Then we keep an eye on things and
prepare for the worst," Sebastian
agreed feeling the need to stay
vigilant. "We have to let Lemira know about this."
With business concluded, Sebastian glanced at Orion. "Are you going to tell her, or should I?"
"You do it," Orion replied flatly.
Sebastian smirked. "That makes

Orion tugged at his tie. "You're her lawyer."
"But aren't you her ex-boyfriend?"
Orion fixed him with a deadpan stare. "You really didn't need to add that."
With that, Orion got into his car and drove off.

When she heard the story, she was stunned. "You went there with Orion?"
"Yep."
"And... you didn't try to kill each other?"
Sebastian gritted his teeth. "Hey, do you really think I'm that unprofessional?"
Holding her phone, Lemira mused, "It's just surprising that you agreed to work with him at all."
"Well, that's all thanks to you..."
