Mrs. Amelia eyed Janice up and down, her face twisting into a sneer of absolute disdain. "With your spending habits, can you even afford anything in this store? I've seen plenty of cheap girls like you."

She turned and handed the dress to her daughter. "Try it on, honey. It perfectly suits your aura."

Sophia glanced at the dress, then shot Lemira a provocative smirk.

As she approached, her heels clicking sharply against the floor, Sophia mocked, "Well, well, Lemira. How do you still have the mood to go shopping? I heard your little witness almost died."

Lemira met her gaze dead-on. "Have you already forgotten how you were on the floor, begging for mercy?"

Sophia's expression darkened for a split second. "That's right. I begged you, and you refused. So don't blame me for playing dirty."

"So it was you," Lemira said coolly. She had suspected as much, but she hadn't expected them to admit it so openly.

Sophia's red lips curled into a vicious smile. "I'm warning you to drop the case. Otherwise, the next person to have an 'accident' might just be you."

Stella stepped up. "Sophia, don't push it."

Sophia glared at her coldly. "I'm pushing it? Lemira is the one pushing it! I've given her fair warning. If she's begging to get herself killed, there's nothing I can do to stop it."

"We'll see who gets the last laugh," Lemira replied evenly.

Mrs. Amelia let out a cold scoff. "Your parents never knew their place either, Lemira. And look how they ended up. You know perfectly well what happened. Don't repeat their mistakes. The Langstons could never beat us. Not back then, and certainly not now."

Mrs. Amelia felt completely vindicated.

Now that her daughter was marrying into the Jones family, the Sinclair Group had secured the funding to avoid bankruptcy, and she was no longer facing prison time.

Lemira's expression turned icy as she stared down Mrs. Amelia. "Then I should congratulate you on securing such a wonderful son-in-law. I hear he's even older than you. Tell me, do you call him your son-in-law, or your big brother?"

Mrs. Amelia's face turned purple with rage. "What did you just say, you little bitch?"

She raised her hand to strike, but Lemira caught her wrist mid-air.

With a slight squeeze from Lemira, Mrs. Amelia's face contorted in pain.

"You don't get to talk about my parents," Lemira said, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You murderer."

She shoved the woman away.

Staring at the staggering Mrs.

Amelia, she added, "Enjoy whatever borrowed time you bought by selling your daughter. This little fantasy of your's won't last long. In the end prison cell is still waiting for you. That is your destiny."

Trembling with fury, Mrs. Amelia turned to her daughter. "Are you just going to stand there and let her humiliate me?"

Sophia glared daggers at Lemira. "Who I marry is none of your business. The fact that you're so obsessed with it just proves how jealous and bitter you are."

"I could be the most bitter woman on earth, and I still wouldn't marry a man older than my own father. You really were desperate, weren't you, Sophia? You'll swallow anything to survive."

Lemira hadn't wanted to resort to such vicious insults, but these two were too insufferable.

There was only so much a person could take.

Just as she expected, Sophia's face drained of color. "Do you think you're any

better, Lemira? You manipulated Orion just so you could join a wealthy family. You're no different from me."

"Oh, there's a huge difference. Orion is strikingly handsome, wealthy, and it would have been his first

mariage. You're settling for a used-up old man with a son your age. The difference is astronomical."

Lemira's words were coated in venom.

She took a step closer, her eyes locking onto Sophia's. "You knew your mother broke the law, yet you threw your entire life away just to cover it up. You brought this entirely on yourself."

Sophia stumbled back a few steps,

grinding her teeth. "Don't get cocky,

Lemira. I will crush you until there's

nothing fett'll mak sure your dead,

parents can't do a damn thing to

save you, because they were nothing

but losers to the Sinclairs
