Lemira nodded. It was indeed because of the memories from the crash.

Orion squeezed her hand. "It's in the past now. You're safe."

Hearing those words from him again felt incredibly comforting and tender. She leaned greedily into his chest, feeling a deep sense of reliance. Her dreams had been nothing short of suffocating nightmares, and she had fought desperately to wake up. Now, resting in his arms, a profound wave of security washed over her.

Orion sensed her need for comfort and held her quietly, wanting nothing more than to offer her warmth. He suspected she had recalled something terrible Rowan had done to her in the past, which was why she was so terrified. But he didn't dare ask, afraid of reopening her wounds.

While Lemira thought about the crash, Orion wondered what Rowan had put her through. They both fell into a tacit silence.

After resting for a while, Lemira realized it was probably inappropriate to keep clinging to him, considering they were supposedly broken up. She slowly sat up, slipping out of his embrace. Avoiding his gaze, she murmured, "I'm a little hungry."

"I'll have someone bring you food. What do you want to eat?"

She shook her head. "Anything is fine."

She didn't actually have much of an appetite; it was just an excuse to pull away and avoid the awkwardness.

Seeing her pale, exhausted face, his tone softened even more. "Then I'll have Bistrova send something over."

Lemira nodded.

After the brief exchange, the silence grew heavy. She patted the pillows around her. "Where's my phone?"

"It's likely still at your dorm. When Stella and the others come by, I'll have them bring it."

"Okay." She just wanted to text them she was safe so they wouldn't worry.

Soon, Director Harrison arrived with a medical team to check on her. Thaddeus Draven trailed behind them.

Once the examination was over, Thaddeus announced, "No major issues. Just needs a day of observation and she can be discharged." He crossed his arms. "I told you Lemon was fine. She just fainted from shock."

Orion shot him a warning glare.

Lemira looked up, her expression surprised. "I fainted from shock?"

She remembered a sudden, splitting headache before everything went black. She had plunged into endless dreams, mostly fragments of her past life. She even dreamt she was on an operating table, about to have her kidney removed by Rowan. Cóntent

Thaddeus didn't catch the hint. "Exactly! When you passed out, someone was so terrified he lost all the color in his face. He stood guard outside the emergency room the entire time. Even when the Langston family showed up, he-ow! Why did you kick me?" Content bétongs

Orion's voice was flat. "There's no need to bring up irrelevant people."

Lemira caught the underlying implication. "The Langston family came to the hospital last night?"

It made sense. A massive fire at the university would undoubtedly reach their ears. Orion adjusted her blanket. "They came, but they were sent away. Don't worry." There was no way he was letting Rowan anywhere near her.

Lemira felt a strange sense of unease, though she couldn't pinpoint why. Her mind drifted back to the visceral nightmare on the operating table. It had felt so terrifying real, as if Orion had been there too.

It had to be an absurd dream.

Soon, the meal from Bistrova arrived. Lemira had originally claimed she was hungry just as an excuse, but the aroma actually made her stomach rumble.

Just as she finished eating, Stella and Janice arrived. Caleb Sterling stood outside

the door, choosing not to enter. Orion and Thaddeus tactfully stepped out of the room, giving the girls some space.
