The moment Lemira said that, Orion immediately pulled the car over to the side of the road.

He turned to her, his gaze intense. "What else?"

Lemira fell silent for a moment before speaking. "I remember there were people hiding in the bushes by the road."

"That must have been Evelina's father. He was terrified of dying in a crash, so he arranged for a subordinate wearing a silicone mask to take his place. The driver was probably trying to make a run for it, but realized he'd left evidence behind and was forced to go back for it. Nobody expected the car to explode."

Lemira shook her head. "No. There was more than one person."

"Are you sure? Maybe they were accomplices."

Lemira racked her brain but couldn't pull up any more details. Perhaps too much time had passed, and the fragments were simply gone.

She let out a heavy sigh. "Maybe. It could have been Hamlin."

After all, Hamlin was the first one they had apprehended, which eventually led them to Evelina's father.

"A job like that back then couldn't have been pulled off by just one person," Orion mused.

He looked at Lemira. "But it's all over now."

Lemira nodded. "I know. If only I had remembered all of this sooner, I wouldn't have let Evelina run wild in the Langston family for so many years. I could have made the Sinclairs pay the price much earlier."

"If we're pointing fingers, I'm to blame as well for not noticing the Sinclair family's scheming back then. They wouldn't have lived comfortably for so long if I had."

Regret shadowed Orion's features.

Lemira pressed her lips together. "Thankfully, they didn't get their way this time."

In her past life, those people had succeeded and lived the high life.

A sudden thought struck Lemira. She looked at Orion and asked, "If... and I mean purely hypothetically... if you had never met me, would you have eventually married Sophia?"

Orion's brow furrowed. "Don't let Sophia's nonsense get to your head."

"It's just a hypothetical. Just an example."

She desperately wanted to know if Orion and Sophia had ended up together in her previous life. After all, back then, he had only been her onfine gaming buddy, they had never met face-to-face.

Orion glanced at her before answering firmly, "No."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't like her."

Lemira raised an eyebrow. "That simple? But what if you never found someone you liked? You couldn't just stay single forever."

She knew how wealthy families operated-arranged marriages weren't always built on love.

She noticed the man staring intently at her, a strange look in his eyes.

Lemira faltered. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You are the answer," Orion said softly.

Lemira froze. She was the answer?

"But what if you never met me?" she pressed. "Or what if I turned out to be entirely different from what you imagined?"

"How could you be any different from what I imagined?"

Lemira found that hard to answer without exposing her past life. "Just as an example. What if, when you came looking for me, I was perfectly happy living with the Langston, family and didn't need any help? Would we still have gotten to know each other?"

She knew the main difference between her past and current life was her rebirth- her firm decision to break free from her brothers' control.

When Orion came looking for her this time, he saw she was struggling and needed help, which was why he stayed by her side.

But in her past life, she had wanted nothing more than to stay with her brothers and never leave the Langston family.

Orion would have had absolutely no reason to stay and help her.

Orion thought about it seriously. "You are who you are. That wouldn't change."

"I'm just dealing in hypotheticals.

You don't have to be so guarded But

I get it. A person can fall for many.

people in a lifetime, but the world is massive. Just crossing paths is hard enough."
