Lemira found the situation highly suspicious.
How did Rowan get the news so fast?
She had only just found out herself this morning.
A flurry of theories raced through her mind, but she pushed them aside and asked, "Yes. Do you have a treatment plan?"
"I might, but I can't give you a definitive answer until I conduct a thorough examination of Amanda."
"If that's the case, then come straight to the hospital. We can't afford to delay her treatment any longer."
Lemira believed that as long as an option existed, they had to pursue it.
That way, it would buy Orion more time to track down a new organ donor match.
"But shouldn't Orion be the one asking me for this favor?"
"He's tied up at the hospital," Lemira replied tightly.
"Aren't you and Orion already broken up? Why are you so invested in his business?"
Lemira fell silent for a second before answering. "Those are two completely separate issues."
"Alright. This is the first time you've ever asked me for a favor, so naturally, I won't turn you down. I'll head to the hospital immediately."
"I'll see you there."
Lemira ended the call and grabbed a cab straight to the hospital.
On the way, she texted Orion: [Rowan agreed to come to the hospital to examine Amanda. I'm on my way. Have the hospital staff prepare everything on your end.] She didn't need to spell out exactly what preparations were needed.
She arrived at the hospital shortly after.
Stepping out of the elevator, she spotted Thaddeus and Orion standing in the hallway, deep in conversation.
As she approached, Orion looked up. His dark, striking eyes locked onto hers.
He walked straight toward her, his voice rough. "Everything is set up on this end." Lemira nodded. "I spoke with Rowan. He said he has a way, but he needs to run a full examination before confirming the treatment."
Thaddeus walked over, a frown pulling at his lips. "But is Rowan going to demand something from you in exchange?"
Lemira's brows pulled together. "He hasn't yet. Besides, what could they possibly demand from me now?"
Evelina's true colors had been
exposed to the world. Everyone knew the truth about the car crash,
for
and no one was falling for the "two-faced" girl's lies anymore.
She couldn't fathom what leverage the Langston family could possibly have left.
Orion looked displeased. "If the Langston family tries to force any conditions on you, you must tell me immediately."
"I know. I'm not stupid."
Lemira had a clear sense of boundaries now.
A short while later, Rowan arrived with two medical assistants in tow.
But he wasn't alone. Caspian and Lucian were right behind him.
Lemira looked straight at Rowan. "Everything is ready for you."
Rowan nodded. He cast a brief glance at Orion but walked into the suite without a word.
The rest of the group waited out in the hallway.
Lucian turned to Lemira. "Lemmy, we need to have a private word with you. Is that alright?"
Lemira nodded and followed them to the far end of the corridor.
From here, she could still see Orion standing at the other end, his eyes never leaving her.
Lemira turned to the Langston brothers. "What is it?"
Lucian hesitated before speaking. "Why did you suddenly ask Rowan to treat Amanda? You never mentioned this to us before."
"It was a sudden emergency. Why? Is there a problem?"
Lucian shifted uncomfortably. "It's not exactly a problem, but you know how ruthlessly the Everhart family targeted the Langston Group recently. Asher has been incredibly stressed. Our relationship with the Everharts is hostile at best. How could he just demand this of you?"
Caspian nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Orion lied about his identity and deceived you before Now he's using you to get Rowan to perform this treatment. Isn't he getting off way too easily?"
