Hearing this garbage made Lemira want to laugh out loud.
"So what?" she asked coolly. "What exactly do you want to wring out of Orion?"
Lucian quickly backpedaled. "We're not trying to exploit the Everharts! But the Langston Group is in serious trouble right now. We just need Orion to stop his vindictive attacks against our family."
"Is this your brilliant idea, or did Asher put you up to this?"
Lucian looked anxious. "Lemmy, Asher is only trying to protect the family."
"The Everhart family was incredibly arrogant before. We can't just hand over a life- saving treatment on a silver platter. If we do, everyone will think the Langstons are easy targets."
It was obvious Caspian was still holding a massive grudge over how the Everharts had crushed him during his latest scandal.
If he hadn't transferred his shares to Lemira, his entertainment company would have been completely bankrupt by now.
Lemira listened to their pathetic excuses, her expression completely flat. "What does Rowan say about this?"
"He didn't explicitly say anything, but he's our brother. He obviously stands with us," Lucian replied confidently.
Lucian looked at Lemira pleadingly. "Lemmy, we're not trying to threaten him. We just want the Everhart family to back off the Langston Group."
"We absolutely cannot let the Everharts off the hook this easily. They're the ones begging us now," Caspian added fiercely.
Lemira leveled a cold glare at Caspian. "Whatever conditions you want, I can agree to them on his behalf."
Caspian looked incredibly frustrated. "Why would we demand anything from you? We want Orion! He deceived you for so long!"
"I remembered exactly what happened during the car crash."
Lemira dropped the words lightly, instantly freezing Lucian and Caspian in their tracks.
Lucian looked at her in shock. "You really remembered? What actually happened?" Lemira was the sole survivor, but her trauma had erased the memory.
There were no security cameras on that stretch of road, so the truth had been buried for years.
The only existing accounts came from Evelina's father, Orion, and the hit-and-run driver's confessions.
Lemira stared dead into Lucian's eyes. "Orion saved me. Mom placed me directly into his hands."
Lucian fell silent for a long moment. "It really was him."
A mocking sneer touched Lemira's lips. "Who else did you think it was? Did you
think I cowardly ran for my
life, or that Mom and Dad just tossed me out onto the asphalt?"
Lucian and Caspian exchanged a loaded glance. The guilt was palpable.
Caspian swallowed hard. "Was... was there anything else?"
"Besides that, I saw someone else at the crash site."
"Who?" Lucian demanded eagerly.
"We can talk about that after the medical examination is finished."
She deliberately left their question hanging.
It was enough to send the Langstons into a state of severe anxiety.
Lemira turned on her heel and
walked her brothers weet
toward Orion. Knowing
how panicked her
right now instantly lifted her spirits.
Watching her approach, Orion asked in a low voice, "What did you talk about?"
"We just talked about you."
Lemira looked up at him.
Orion's breath hitched slightly. "Did they demand any conditions?"
"Obviously. You're finally asking them for a massive favor. Did you really think they wouldn't try to squeeze something out of you?"
Amusement danced in Lemira's
eyes as she playfully sized him up
just trying to figure out how much you're worth on the market."
Seeing her cheeky expression, a soft smile touched Orion's lips. "If you're the one buying, I might consider it."
Lemira raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you afraid I'll sell you off to do hard labor in the coal mines?"
"I'll gladly mine coal if it means providing for you."
Clearly, when it came to smooth talking, there was no winning against him.
A short while later, Rowan emerged from the suite.
