That afternoon, Lemira received a call from Asher. "Evelina's been taken by the police for questioning. Were you really in such a rush to get her in trouble?" he asked.
"Yeah, I was," Lemira replied coolly. She had waited a long time for this day.
She continued, "Have you thought about what I said the other day?" Newest update provided by find(ɴ)ovel.net
Asher didn't answer. He simply hung up.
Lemira glanced at her phone and couldn't help but chuckle.
After her classes, Lemira headed to the team's training center. She joined her teammates for practice and even shared their training sessions live online. Ever since that incident with being banned by the Waverlies, she hadn't stuck to a regular weekend streaming schedule. Now, her streams were mostly focused on team training, which was a great way to boost their reputation.
By evening, Lemira made her way back to the Langston family mansion right on time. Evander had been messaging the family group chat all day about sorting out the inheritance issue that night. It was a showdown she couldn't afford to miss.
As soon as she stepped out of her car and into the mansion, she was greeted by Alaric, who seemed to have been waiting for her.
He hesitated before saying, "Evander and Asher had a big fight."
"I figured," Lemira replied. "Asher's against splitting the assets, isn't he?"
"Exactly. Asher's company is about to go public, and he doesn't want any distractions. Plus, he doesn't agree with Evander marrying Evelina."
Lemira was taken aback. Asher opposed it? Yet, he had previously pleaded for her to go easy on Evelina for Evander's sake, as if she were doing him a favor by letting the girl he liked off the hook.
"Lemira, if Asher insists on dividing the assets, Lucian and I have discussed it. We'll make sure you get your fair share," Alaric assured her.
"Aside from what Mom and Dad left me, I want nothing else," Lemira declared. She had no desire for Asher's money. Taking it would only bind her to his moral high ground in the future.
With that, Lemira strode into the mansion's grand hall. Sure enough, she could hear Evander and Asher's heated argument.
Evander was throwing a fit. "Asher, if you don't give me my share, you're just trying to steal my money."
"If it weren't for me managing the company, would you even have this wealth?" Asher retorted.
"But I'm getting engaged and need the money, and you're denying it to me."
Evander felt humiliated after being locked out of the Bistrova the previous night, especially in front of Evelina. He needed to regain his pride, and for that, he needed funds.
Asher's temples throbbed with anger.
Evelina quickly interjected, "Asher, Evander, please don't fight over this. It makes me feel guilty."
Evander squeezed Evelina's hand tenderly. "Eve, I promised you, and I intend to keep my word."
Evelina looked at him with gratitude and then turned to Asher. "Asher Evander's just anxious because of what happened with me at the police station if I weren't in trouble he wouldn't be so desperate."
The implication was clear: if Evelina's issues were resolved, Evander would calm down.
Asher gave Evelina a long, hard stare. "You got yourself into this mess. Aren't you going to fix it?"
His tone was harsh.
Evelina was startled and quickly

behave and listen to you."
She knew Asher loved being the patriarch with absolute authority, so she always played the submissive role to appease him.
And it seemed to work, as Asher's expression softened.
At that moment, Lemira walked into the hall, her presence commanding attention.
She looked at Evander and Evelina. "So, when's the engagement? I'll make sure to bring a gift."
"Lemira, if you knew Eve was going to be my fiancée, you shouldn't have called the cops!"
Evander held Evelina's hand tightly, standing protectively by her side.
Lemira propped her chin on her hand and looked at Evelina. "I ran into Dorian today. Wanna guess what he said?"
Evelina's face turned ashen.
Lemira smirked. "Dorian says you two never broke up."
