Lemira's scrutinizing gaze caught the flicker of guilt in Evelina's eyes.

Could Evelina actually know there was something wrong with PZ Group? But in her past life, no one found out until the company imploded next year. Right now, everyone thought PZ Group was a formidable foreign corporation. Something felt strange to Lemira; this wasn't right.

It seemed there were many things she had been kept in the dark about in her previous life.

Just then, Asher approached with his entourage. “What scam company?”

At that moment, Evelina's heart leaped into her throat, a cold chill creeping up her spine. If Asher found out now, she was finished.

Evander quickly interjected, "Asher, don't listen to Lemira's nonsense. She's claiming PZ Group is a scam, probably because she's worried the Langston Group will surpass Maple Group."

Asher looked at Lemira thoughtfully. "Why would you say that?"

"It's simple. The name, PZ Group... doesn't it just sound like a Ponzi scheme?"

Lemira tossed out a casual excuse. After the company had crashed in her last life, people had made that exact joke, so she remembered it clearly.

Hearing this, Evelina breathed a sigh of relief. She thought, *how could that bitch Lemira possibly know the truth?*

Even Evelina hadn't realized at first that the company her father had found to drain Asher dry was the infamous PZ Group; she'd initially believed it was a genuinely powerful corporation.

It was for this very reason that the ever-suspicious Asher hadn't harbored much doubt.

But Evelina knew the company was a ticking time bomb.

With feigned innocence, Evelina said, “Lemmy, I know you're worried that Asher's new investment will create competition for Maple Group, but this is fair business. You can't just slander PZ Group like this."

Evander chimed in, "Exactly. PZ Group is a renowned international corporation. If you don't know what you're talking about, Lemira, you should just keep your mouth shut and save yourself the embarrassment.”

Asher, however, looked directly at Lemira. "I suggest you sever ties with Maple Group sooner rather than later, before the company goes bankrupt and you're saddled with a mountain of debt."

He knew Lemira owned shares in Maple Group.

Lemira's lips curled into a cold smirk. "I'll return that sentiment right back to you. Don't get into bed with a company that has a shady background."

She guessed that since Evelina could no longer touch the foundation's donations, she had set her sights on the Al project.

There was no way Evelina could have orchestrated this alone.

Her father must have been the one pulling the strings.

It seemed another opportunity had just fallen into her lap.

Lemira walked into the venue alone, leaving Evelina to watch her, grinding her teeth

in frustration. That bitch was always making things difficult for her.

Evelina immediately put on a pitiful expression. "Asher, if you believe what Lemmy said and have doubts, about PZ Group, you should make a decision soon. We don't want to become a laughingstock."

Asher wasn't as easily fooled as the rest of the Langston family. She had worked so

hard to convince him to partner with PZ; she couldn't let a single comment from Lemira unravel everything.

Asher's tone was indifferent. "Why would I believe her inflammatory remarks?"

He had personally investigated PZ Group, and the Waverlies' investigation had also come back clean. That was why he had decided to partner with them.

Evelina's tears instantly turned into a smile. "Asher, I knew you wouldn't be deceived. I hope that when the new product is developed, Evander will be able to walk like a normal person again."

Evander, looking moved, took Evelina's hand. "Eve, I knew you were the best to me."

Fighting her discomfort, Evelina didn't push him away.

Asher glanced at the two of them. "The adoption annulment papers have been processed. As long as you take good care of Evander Eve, I'll always have a place for you at the Langston Group."

He had initially opposed their relationship because of the adoption, which would have invited ridicule.

But now that Stella knew, there was no point in hiding it anymore.

Since Evander liked Evelina, he would let them be together. He considered it a debt he owed his brother.

Evander was delighted. "Thank you, Asher."

Evelina lowered her head, a flash of hatred in her eyes. Why should she be married off to a cripple?

Her father was right. The Langstons had never truly considered her one of their

own.

The conference was crowded.

After walking around, Lemira felt even more confident in Maple Group's current technology.
