Mrs. Amelia said angrily, "Orion, I only came here for your mother's sake! How can you treat me like this?"

"Someone as selfish as you wouldn't come here for my mother. You clearly have ulterior motives, don't you? Don't think I don't know!"

Mrs. Amelia's knees nearly gave out. "I... I don't know what you're talking about."

Could it be that Orion knew what she was going to say?

Orion's face was stern. "You were trying to force Lemira to go to the police and drop the charges, weren't you?"

Mrs. Amelia's tone was strained. "Is there something wrong with that? Susanna had nothing to do with it in the first place. She was just dragged into it."

"Then you should be telling that to the police, not to Lemira."

Orion's voice was menacing. "Susanna has made so many mistakes, she even caused someone's death. It's time she faced the consequences."

"No, Orion, you watched Susanna grow up. Your mother even wanted to make her a goddaughter, have you forgotten?"

Hearing Orion's words, Mrs. Amelia panicked. If Orion got involved, there would be no turning back.

Orion flung Mrs. Amelia's hand off him. "You should leave."

"Orion, you can't do this! Our families are so close, you can't!"

Mrs. Amelia was truly panicked now.

Orion backed Mrs. Amelia out the door and hissed in a low voice, "If you don't want the Sinclair family to go bankrupt, you'd better keep your mouth shut."

Mrs. Amelia looked at Orion in shock. He guessed?

So Orion was using the Sinclair family to warn her to keep quiet, to not tell Lemira about the car accident.

A flicker of glee went through Mrs. Amelia. So this was Orion's weakness.

Could she use this?

But in the next second, Orion slammed the door shut, ignoring Mrs. Amelia outside.

Debby walked up to Mrs. Amelia. "Please leave."

Mrs. Amelia shot Debby a glare.

"You were the one who called Orion, werent you? Too bad Lemira, will nevermarry into the Everhart family. You've been sucking up to the wrong person."

Mrs. Amelia stormed off. As for that other matter, she would need to rethink her plan.

Inside the room.

Lemira watched Orion approach. "Why are you back so suddenly? Are you done at the office?"

"Are you okay? What did she say to you?"

There was a hint of insecurity in Orion's eyes. He was worried Mrs. Amelia had already said something she shouldn't have.

Lemira shook her head. "Nothing, just warning me not to punch above my weight, and saying it was my fault your grandmother had to be resuscitated."

"Don't worry about my grandmother. I know you said that to try and get her to rally."

"But I think I messed up. Your grandmother didn't appreciate my little joke."

Lemira felt defeated. She looked at Orion seriously. "How is she now?" "She's fine."

Seeing Lemira's expression, Orion grew anxious. "Lemira, what my grandmother said, you..."

"I will take it to heart."

Lemira's gaze was serious as she looked at his handsome, mature face she could only imagine how many girls threw themselves at him on a regular basis.

Suddenly, she felt a pang of jealousy.

Orion instantly panicked. "Lemira, my grandmother doesn't dislike you. The reason

she said that is because..."

"Because of what?"

Lemira looked up at him. She

reached out and cupped his face et

her fingers tracing a path from his brow down the bridge of his nose and finally to his thin lips.

Orion's body went rigid, a huge wave of panic washing over him.

Lemira's gaze settled on his lips. "Is there something else you're hiding from me?"
