She immediately fell silent.

Seeing this, a radiant smile bloomed on Lemira's face-happiness really was best built on the misery of others. It only made the pleasure twice as sweet.

Lemira headed straight to the dining room. Outside, Evelina's shrill voice still echoed through the halls as she continued to badger Evander, demanding he find her a new designer dress.

Lucian walked into the dining room, his expression troubled. “Lemmy, was that really necessary?"

"I've always been the petty, grudge-holding type you all knew that about me long ago, didn't you?" Lemira replied coolly.

Lucian fell silent. He knew now that all the misunderstandings between them had been because Evelina had deliberately stirred up trouble, making him see Lemira in the worst possible light.

In truth, Lemira had never been like that.

Just then, Asher's angry voice rang out, "So you admit it? Then you should take responsibility!"

Asher had just returned from work and, after hearing about what Lemira had done, was absolutely furious.

Lemira set her fork down unhurriedly. "And what exactly do I need to take responsibility for?"

"I know what happened. How could you act so dishonorably? Eve even got down on her knees to beg you, and you still weren't satisfied. You'd rather destroy the dress than forgive her?"

Asher could hardly believe what Evelina had told him, thinking she must have exaggerated-but Lemira admitted it herself.

When had Lemira become so unreasonable?

Lemira understood Asher was here to accuse her. She replied calmly, "That's just who I am. Isn't that what you've told me since we were kids? Now that I'm acting exactly like you always said I would, you're still not happy?"

When they were children, she'd never done any of those things, but after Evelina accused her, everyone believed she was the culprit. So now, she figured, why not just admit it? At least it would put an end to their constant moralizing.

Asher was so angry he couldn't get a single word out.

Lucian tried to smooth things over. "Asher, let it go. We've got enough to deal with today—no need to get caught up in the details."

Asher took the out Lucian offered. With Lemira being so defiant, she clearly wasn't going to show him any respect anyway.

He snorted, “Eve's already handling major responsibilities at the Langston Group. And what about you?"

At that moment, Evelina walked in. Asher handed her a file. "I've already had Finance wire the payment. You'll need to connect with PZ Group on your end."

"They sent it ahead of schedule?" Evelina was surprised.

"That's right. We'll all be family soon

enoy. Better to get woner sorted so you can focus on the 10

wedding tonight."

Evelina covered her mouth in delight. "Asher, you're too good to me. Don't worry, I won't let you down."

With the money in hand, she'd never have to cater to these people again.

"We're all family. Of course I trust you," Asher replied, shooting Lemira a look as if to show off.

Lemira's smile only deepened. "Well, congratulations."

The more Asher flaunted his success now, the harder he would crash when he

found out the money was gone.

Evelina didn't have time to spar with Lemira-she took the file and left.

Lemira took out her phone and messaged Debby: “The funds have been transferred ahead of schedule."

"Got it," came Debby's reply.

Seeing Debby's message, Lemira's mood lifted considerably.

After finishing her meal, Lemira returned to her room, as if everything happening outside had nothing to do with her.

Her phone rang. It was Orion. "Do you want me to send over another dress?"

"No need. That 'two-faced' girl isn't worth me dressing up for. I already know what I'll wear."

Orion paused, then replied, "I've already made arrangements. That 'two-faced' girl wont be able to get her hands on the designer gown she wants. Even if she does, I'll make sure she can't wear it tonight."

Lemira chuckled. So that's why Evelina couldn't get a single dress-Orion had been

pulling strings behind the scenes.

Given Asher's status and resources,

buying a high-end white dress

should have been easy. But in the

end, they couldn't get one.

Serves her right. For someone like that 'two-faced' girl, this must be torture.

Just then, Lemira heard Debby's voice through Orion's phone: "Evelina's already

wired the money out."

Lemira's breath caught.

The opportunity had finally arrived.
