“Lucian, it's not that I'm impatient—it's just that there's no way Lemira would accept my apology in her current state."
"Well, you were far too harsh with her before," Lucian replied.
Asher fell silent for a moment before saying, "You used to have a pretty good relationship with her, better than me, anyway. Why don't you talk to her? If I try, it'll just lead to another argument like before.”
Seeing Asher's defeated look, Lucian felt a surge of frustration. "Asher, I told you ages ago you'd regret this."
"What's the point of regretting it now?" Asher said bitterly.
He knew if they didn't get that money back, the future of the Langston Group would be shaky at best.
At that moment, Evelina stepped tentatively into the room. "Asher, Lucian, I'm done here."
She'd heard the arguing in the dining room and realized her position in the Langston family was becoming dangerously unstable.
At first, she'd considered being careless with the sketch, but now she understood she had to take it seriously; otherwise, she risked Langston family backlash later.
Lucian walked over and took the sketch from Evelina, studying it. "Is this what your father looks like now? Would we be able to recognize him if we saw him?”
"You definitely would. It's at least a sixty percent resemblance," Evelina replied, trying to sound earnest. She looked at Lucian, attempting to curry favor. "I've truly always supported the Langston family. Last time, about the money, I was forced into it. You have to believe me, Lucian."
"That all depends on whether the sketch you've given us is real,” Lucian said. “Let's have Lemmy come down and take a look."
He glanced at the drawing, took out his phone, snapped a photo, and saved it to his gallery for safekeeping.
Soon enough, Lemira received his message and came downstairs.
When she took the sketch, she paused for a moment. The man in the drawing was indeed one of the suspects Orion had listed.
That meant Evelina was telling the truth this time.
So the act she'd put on earlier hadn't been in vain after all.
Lucian, slightly tense, asked, "Lemmy, what do you think? Is it a good resemblance?"
Evander scoffed. "Lemira, haven't you already caught Evelina's father
and are just festing her

Lemira glanced at the sketch and then placed it on the table. "Yes, it does prove that."
Evelina's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. Did this mean her father really was in Lemira's hands?
Otherwise, how could Lemira be so sure the man in the sketch was him?
Whatever hope Evelina had clung to instantly evaporated.
It seemed her decision earlier had indeed been the right one; at least for now, she would be safe staying with the Langston family.
Asher immediately grabbed the sketch. "Lemira, hand over Evelina's father. We have a right to question him too."
But Evander cut in with a sardonic tone. "But isn't this all connected to
the Sinclair family? Even if the
Langstons find evidence, what could you possibly do to the Sinclairs?"
Evelina shot Lemira a furtive glance, just as confused as before.
She'd heard that the car accident back then was orchestrated by the Sinclairs, who
had bribed her father, and that's how Lemira's parents ended up dead.
The real culprits had to be the Sinclair family.
Lemira, hearing everything, looked straight at Evelina. "That's where you come in. You need to persuade your father to come clean about

They were closer than ever to catching Evelina's father, but convincing him to testify
against the Sinclairs would take some thought.
Hale's only child was Evelina.
Evelina's expression shifted. Why did she have to do it? What was Lemira scheming now?
