The moment the words left her mouth, Sebastian slammed on the gas.
Lemira grabbed the handle. "What's going on?"
"Someone's tailing us. Probably looking for trouble. Let's shake them first."
The sudden swerving threw Lemira against the seat.
Her head spun. "What kind of car is it?"
Could it be Orion? If it was him, there was no need to lose him.
"Just some piece of junk," Sebastian replied casually.
Lemira could only hold on tight, waiting for him to lose their pursuer.
A few minutes later, the car's speed leveled out. "Finally shook him. Looks like he's
used to being chauffeured around. His own driving skills are garbage."
Lemira looked at him. "You know who it was?"
Realizing he had slipped up in his excitement, Sebastian quickly deflected. "Anyway, you guessed right. The item is stashed in Locker 38 at the spa."
"Looks like he's a regular there."
It was certainly an inconspicuous place to hide something important.
Before long, the car pulled up outside Blue Velvet Spa.
Stepping out, Lemira had to lean against the door for a moment, her head still swimming.
"Drink some water," Sebastian offered. "You didn't mention you got motion sickness, Ms. Langston."
She took a small sip, waiting for the nausea to pass.
"I usually don't," she murmured.
At least, she never felt sick when Orion was driving.
Sebastian drove exactly like he lived-reckless and full of attitude.
Orion was entirely different; his driving was always steady and controlled.
She suspected the person tailing them had indeed been Orion. Otherwise, Sebastian wouldn't have reacted so strongly.
But was Orion really that easy to lose?
After all, whenever Sebastian faced the Langstons, he maintained an aloof, unbothered facade.
Pushing the thought aside, she followed him into the spa.
The interior decor was surprisingly tacky and grounded.
Sebastian eyed the cheap aesthetics with blatant disgust before walking straight to
the front desk. "Where is Mr. Hale's private locker? Locker 38."
The receptionist looked taken aback. "And you are?"
"I'm his lawyer. I've been instructed to retrieve the contents of his locker."
At the word 'lawyer,' the receptionist instantly grew guarded and called for the manager.
The manager arrived and assessed Sebastian. "Mr. Hale hasn't been here in a while. Why would he send his lawyer to pick up his things?"
"He's been locked up. I'm here on his behalf. Is there a problem?"
Sebastian's tone was incredibly haughty.
Lemira stepped in, addressing the manager. "It's true. We have the combination as well. Here is Attorney Bennett's business card If you have any concerns later, you can verify it with Lyria Centra Precinct."

The manager was actually aware of Hale's arrest. It had been a while since he last visited, and some guys
from Elite Showroom had
mentioned during a massage that Hale had gotten himself thrown in jail. sŵnovels
However, since the locker rental hadn't expired, no one had touched it.
He just hadn't expected a lawyer to show up.
The manager hesitated. "But he didn't tell me personally."
Lemira seamlessly slid a thick manila envelope across the counter. "Do us a favor. We're just following his instructions. He's locked away, and it's not like he's getting out anytime soon."
Feeling the weight of the envelope, the manager's attitude instantly warmed. "Well,
in that case, right this way."
He led them down the hall.
Sebastian shot Lemira a look of utter bewilderment. "Do you know what that kind of behavior is called?"
"It's called making things easier for others so they make things easier for you."
She glanced back at him. "Are you always this rigidly righteous, Attorney Bennett?"
He paused. "I just didn't think it was necessary to waste money here."
"If it gets us the evidence smoothly, it's worth every penny."
