Sophia was spending the holiday alone this year. She hadn't even had a New Year's Eve dinner. Joanna was off with Maxwell Griffith, enjoying a romantic evening
together.
Her good-for-nothing son had run off somewhere.
Mr. Wilson had abandoned her after Nathan snatched his company away.
Her dream of a happy, prosperous holiday surrounded by family had become a joke. She was all alone.
She sat blankly in the living room, looking at the cold, empty house. It felt like many years ago, when she would wait for Nathan to come home, hoping he would bring her happiness, looking forward to the money and gifts he would give her.
But now, Nathan was gone from her life too.
"Ding!"
The phone on the table suddenly chimed.
The screen lit up, and she saw a video notification. In a daze, she finally registered that someone had sent her a message.
She clicked on the video and saw Nathan buying luxury goods for another woman, celebrating the holiday happily together.
This was the life she had always dreamed of, but Nathan had given it to someone else.
She had been too greedy. If she had known Nathan would make a comeback, why would she have gotten involved with Mr. Wilson?
Then, she saw the message below the video and trembled with rage.
"Nathan, I waited for you for over twenty years, how could you do this to me? I suffered so much for you, and now you're flaunting your new woman in my face and buying her luxury goods."
She glanced at the number and realized the video and message were from Wendy.
Wendy was doing this on purpose.
"Haha..."
She let out a wretched laugh. It was hilarious. How dare Wendy, a defeated loser, send her a message like this?
Sophia decided that if her holiday was ruined, then no one else deserved to have a good one either.
She immediately dialed Wendy's number.
Wendy knew Sophia would call. It was time for her to learn some truths, as the truth is often what causes the most excruciating pain.
Wendy: "I was wondering when you'd call."
Sophia: "Wendy, you're a pathetic loser. I beat you once, and I'll do it again. Have you no dignity left?"
She had personally witnessed how much pain Wendy had been in before.
Betrayed by the person she cherished most, she had been devastated.
The only thing that bothered Sophia was that she hadn't managed to take everything from Wendy.
Wendy smiled calmly, her fingers lightly tracing the luxurious gown before her. "Sophia, I started learning business when I was eighteen. Do you really think I could lose that I'm your defeated opponent.
"Sophia, you're not even qualified to make me lose."
"The company Joanna got was an empty shell. In fact, she even gave me an extra 500 million, which solved my problem with the office building.
"And as for your son—his international holdings belong to me now. I'm rolling in money right now, but you have nothing."
"You wanted to replace me, to swallow everything I have? Sophia, you were dreaming."
"Now you have nothing. Your son and daughter abandoned you because you're no longer useful."
"Nathan abandoned you because you're cheap and debased yourself. He's actually a man of his word. He promised to give you everything of mine and for years he worked desperately to earn money for you to spend. But you weren't satisfied. You had one thing but were already looking for the next best thing. When you saw Nathan was failing, you turned around and threw yourself into Mr. Wilson's arms."
